So why are Ferrari the bad guys?

How is this different to RedBull taking there new front from Webber and giving it to Seb after his got damaged?

They did that to benefit Seb, Ferrari have done this to benefit Fernando. Neither is against the rules so but Ferrari are the unsporting ones?

He didn't say he thought that was right did he? You can't deny this is a weak and unsporting move. They are intentionally breaking the rules to incur a penalty.

Because that is fair, they didn't manipulate anything. Ferrari took a gearbox penalty on purpose when there is nothing wrong with the gearbox. That is manipulating a rule and they've affected other people on the grid.

Ferrari already give parts to Alonso first as well and i've no problem with that.
 
On a completely different note, I like that approach to Turn 1. It's basically the same as the epic starting corner for the Osterreichring but in reverse. And everything else is basically part of another F1 course.

For one because it didn't screw those over who would, otherwise, be starting on the clean side of the grid. I couldn't care less abour Ferrari ordering Massa to let Alonso pass, or favouring Alonso in whatever way.

But messing with the grid order like that influences a lot of drivers outside of Ferrari - which is what is ticking me off. Can't speak for anyone else, though.

Unbelievable, Ferrari. Oh wait, clearly believable. Still want Alonso for the title, but more political nonsense right in front of the US crowd. Great job, Ferrari.
 
Webber wasn't particularly happy about it. Hence the 'not bad for a number two driver' comment. It's not like no one took any notice of it, they were given a hard ride in the press, I expect the same towards Ferrari.

Morals do not cost anything, apart from your reputation. I can't see Ferrari getting a result here, hence the act of desperation.
 
I'm going to miss the start of the race, is there anything on the iPhone that I can use to watch it? A stream perhaps?
 
Exactly, to put it simply they've manipulated the starting grid for their own benefit by taking a penalty on purpose.

Ferrari would start Massa from the pitlane if it meant that Alonso had a shot at the title. It just happens that there was a way of bringing Alonso closer to the front that didn't totally destroy Massa's chances for Constructors points.

This isn't the beginning of the season, this is the sprint to the finish. Ferrari need to give Alonso the best chance possible; he needs at least ten points effectively because Vettel has been dominating this weekend and is likely to win because of Red Bull's near flawless reliability couple with Seb's immense ability to cope with the pressure of starting with a driver like Hamilton right behind you. Once Vettel gets through turn one infront it's all over, 2011 style.

Ferrari know this, and they know that this is Alonso's last chance this season.

Obviously it's a little unsporting. But seriously, there is a championship at stake. If there wasn't such a big difference between the clean and dirty side I doubt that they would have done it.

They can't give him the car he deserves, so they go to what they know best.

Yes, I'm sure Mark thought it was fair.....

End of the day, as the Sky coverage is showing they are completely justified in there decision, some people lost out, some people have also gained because of it. They didn't break the rules so what they've done is fine by me.

It's not that they did it, it's how they did it. The gearbox penalty is there to penalize people who need to change their gearbox, it's not there for people to break the seal on purpose to take the penalty and move their other driver up the grid.

Not to defend this gross or diselegant act as that, but isn't RBR been bending the rules and or the gray zones and getting their changes outlawed after the fact with no penaties? This move is (much more) legal and it's not sneaky or dubious. Admiting it is Ferrari being as fair as it can be.

It's a loop hole in the rules, deal with it.

That said, been against these gearbox penaties since the start. Maybe they'll get rid of this nonsense next year.

I'm talking about fair in terms of the sport, not fairness between drivers. That wasn't particularly fair for Mark no, it was fair in a sporting manner.

They didn't break the rules but they did exploit them, glad you're ok with that though.

Everyone talking about Vettel and Alonso..but Hulkenberg, Schumacher and Raikkonen are on good positions in the grid..
