Well, that showed how egotistical Americans are.

They sung their national anthem on American soil in the first Grand Prix in the US since 2007. What is so "egotistical" about that?

Wouldn't be suprising, actually.

Seriously, I hope and expect it to be.

Maybe a bit like NASCAR, making him stay on the same side. Quite simple actually, make it an even number of places (like 4 or 6? duh!).

Or actually GET RID of the damn rule...

He said "God bless Texas" right at the end of the anthem too.

I have met a few Texans through work, and they seem to be Texan first then American. I take it that is about right?

Would you sooner them sing the Japanese anthem?

The way this dirty side has been described, I will be expecting the entire left side to be sat there wheel spinning, while the right side disappear into the sunset.

I am betting on a 1st lap safety car.

Here we go..

To my knowledge, no other F1 race has had the host nation's anthem played or sung prior to the race.

No, I was just pointing out something.

I'm talking about fair in terms of the sport, not fairness between drivers. That wasn't particularly fair for Mark no, it was fair in a sporting manner.

They didn't break the rules but they did exploit them, glad you're ok with that though.

We'll just agree to disagree.

It happens in all kinds of sports, they didn't break the rules so that's that.

Anyway, hoping for a great race!

I must admit the circuit and surrounding areas look superb. Hopefully the race will match.

Alonso will win, comfortably.

That is all.

They all do. Sometimes it's covered on tv, sometimes it isn't.

Once again I will say. Can't wait for the 1st turn! I like seeing a wider 1st turn.

Really? I guess since I watch it on SPEED, they would of course show it this time.

Haven't heard this much fuss about the clean vs dirty side since Suzuka 1990.

Off topic, loved how nose-hign that F16 was during the flyby. It's pliodding while the P51s and the P38 were in cruise mode.

Ferrari would start Massa from the pitlane if it meant that Alonso had a shot at the title. It just happens that there was a way of bringing Alonso closer to the front that didn't totally destroy Massa's chances for Constructors points.

This isn't the beginning of the season, this is the sprint to the finish. Ferrari need to give Alonso the best chance possible; he needs at least ten points effectively because Vettel has been dominating this weekend and is likely to win because of Red Bull's near flawless reliability couple with Seb's immense ability to cope with the pressure of starting with a driver like Hamilton right behind you. Once Vettel gets through turn one infront it's all over, 2011 style.

Ferrari know this, and they know that this is Alonso's last chance this season.

Obviously it's a little unsporting. But seriously, there is a championship at stake. If there wasn't such a big difference between the clean and dirty side I doubt that they would have done it.

Agreed. I would do the same in Ferrari's position. The rule needs to be looked at and probably will now. Used to really piss me off when Kimi at McLaren got these penalties and took away from a battle at the front. At least these days you got DRS and Kers and tyres designed to fall away to help you recover.

^^^^

I have a 30 mb connection WHY DOES SKY GO KEEP BUFFERING????!!!!!!

Sooo annoyed right now.

I would like another amusing Kimi radio message at some point please.

iPhone stream! I need an iPhone stream!

Just got a stream. here goes! :D

is anyone else kind of dumbfounded that this is happening, i mean, F1 in the US
