The wagon looks too much like a Vibe/Matrix to me in the back.
Still, I like it.

After seeing the Hideous Legacy and now this I now can kill myself .That is why the Evo can't die

As long as there is an STI, it'll be OK.

I like this one more than the car it replaces. The look is much better, and I think it looks fantastic in wagon form. But, aside from the looks, you're missing the big picture here:

* Loses 110 lbs compared to it's predecessor
* 36 MPG on the highway, even with the AWD system
* All-new 2.0L F4 engine, delivers less power, but out-performs it's predecessor

It is a very reasonable step forward for Subaru. I like it a lot.

The wagon looks a lot better than the sedan. By more than a mile. I would name her GLaDOS and tool about town delivering cake.

The sedan has potential to be a better looking STi than the actual model. The base model, oh well, that has never been a beauty if you ask me.

Let's see it in WR Blue mica with golden 19 inch wheels, a proper wing and some huge bumpers. It might turn out not that bad after all...

It's not that great looking but when those things go like they do (in WRX and STi trim), you aren't going to see it for long. ;)

I like the current generation wagon...Design ways, this new wagon is just....minivanish...The front is too raked, and the rear does resemble a matrix in some ways. Although it still maintains some of the lines from the current generation, so it does still maintain the "facelift" look.

That's probably the first time I've used it. :D

Also, according to Edmunds:

Insideline.com
This fall, the 2012 Subaru Impreza sedan and wagon will debut, while the existing WRX and STI models will carry over as-is.

👍

Love that rear bumper. Looks aerodynamic.

^That. Still can't say it's a looker though.

But the first picture of the hatchback, from that angle, the front looks kind of like a Prius.

The more I look at the rear of the 5door, the more in cohesive the entire thing looks!

"Okay we need a crease here, and a crease here, and a curve here...oh wait, not there, that would look like good!"

Now I actually like this, it actually doesn't look too bad, as the same as the XV concept. In STi trim though, this will look NICE!

It looks better than the current model, looks quite sober 👍. That said, the whole article mentions it will get less power in the standard trim ( given that the engine has been downsized, no big surprise ). Here's hoping for more agressive looks and a 400+hp motor on the STi trim.

That's what I'm still wondering about. Since they're leaving the WRX and STI alone for 2012(and maybe 2013), and they said WRX/STI will branch away from the normal impreza, what is it gonna be based on? I'm still assuming same chassis as the 2012 base impreza, as starting from scratch would raise prices, no?

Dunno, perhaps Subaru intends to do what Nissan did with the GT-R moniker, turn it into a halo model and in essence, a completely different car of it's predecessor.

The side views make the car look cheap. The current Impreza at leastt look comparable to the Camry and Accord, but these look like econo-cars from the side. I don't like.

What about the Subaru Coupe based on the FT-86? Move the STi brand over to that thing and let the Impreza stay boring.

Theres no way they can have the only STI model be the FT-86 variant. It's rear wheel drive.

Anyway, I had a go at the Impreza in photoshop to see how it would look with some changes.

Would you mind editing out the proportioned front and back windows? I think that it would look better if the windows were one piece.
