After a horrible start to the race, it looks like Nico's on fire.

Literally.

-

Red Bull's hopes seem renewed.

Drama for everyone now. Vettel anxious to overtake Kimi. Kimi defending furiously. Mark Webber's tires are out... Hamilton simply coasting to keep his car in one piece.

Fail 22, I'm betting, is KERS overheating.

Just a guess.

Thought that was Hamilton for a moment!

I wonder if fail 22 is another "don't overtake your teammate" message. Similar to multi 22.

*edit*
Fail 22 was sent to both RB drivers so I don't think it's KERS.

I am guessing a "settle for third, do not attack".

Out of all the tracks I actually see Lewis having a chance here.

It was once said to be like Monaco without the buildings for a reason. He may be able to regulate the pace a little.

Nailed my prediction.

Good race.

1st: Lewis Hamilton: He really should downplay his chances every race. Good driving, and he really had to work for that win, lots of epic overtaking on track.

2nd: Kimi Raikkonen: Looked like Lotus's strategy was in the crapper when his tires grained terribly in the first stint. But a heroic 33 lap run at the end put him on the podium. Fantastic race.

3rd: Sebastian Vettel: I think this was one of his hardest fought podiums. Had to defend hard from the start, running the race we expected Lewis to be running. Had heat problems, tire problems, aero problems... still came within spitting distance of 2nd.

4th: Mark Webber: I doubt he'll be shouting "Fail 22" in the presscons. That last stint was a big ask of the soft tires. Still, good work, mate.

5th: Fernando Alonso: Ferrari seemed way off the pace today. Good job getting fifth, but they'll need to do a lot of work to stay in the hunt over the back half of the season.

6th: Romain Grosjean: Hero to zero to hero to zero. What a rollercoaster of a race. 6th is a good salvage job, but he still has the possible penalties at the next GP... and to come sixth after almost making second...

7th: Jenson Button: Fantastic two-stopper. And he seemed to be everywhere this race, being the turtle that all the front-runners had to contend with at one point or another. McLaren's season may be over, as they are concentrating on next year's car... but apparently it's not completely over.

No one else matters:

Big Losers:

Nico Rosberg: Almost had a podium at the start. Then went off. Went off again. Then his race caught fire, literally.

Romain Grosjean: Needs no explanation.

Great race. Hope they're all this exciting.

Had to take back what I expected before this race, one of the best of the year, totally awesome, what a change from the usual.

RBR had the better car but Lewis and Kimi were the better drivers today and got through on sheer willpower just the way it should be, epic stuff.

So happy for Lewis, man, feels great.

I hope Massa rebounds again from these not-so-stellar few races :indiff:

I'm not happy with the penalty RoGro got for "overtaking off the track". It looked to me that he passed long before entering the chicane where he was subsequently hit and thus forced to go off track.

Really good race, much better then I expect from the supposedly 2nd most difficult circuit to overtake at.

Hamilton was "lucky" Vettel was held up by Button, however on the other hand Hamilton did a good job overtaking him. Raikonnen once again proved how his and the Lotus's ability to preserve tyres can give them an advantage, and his defending against Vettel at the end was very good. Vettel drove an ok race, however this race if anything proves again how when he is in traffic and not in clean air he isn't any better then other top drivers.

Feel bad for Grosjean though, whilst the move on Jenson was naughtly I didn't feel it was penalty worthy, and the Massa overtake was simply a brilliant overtake, on what is a relatively tight track it is inevitable you will use some of the kerbs and astro turf, I doubt Massa would have felt the overtake was unfair either.

Ferrari need to get a wind tunnel that actually works.

Well McLaren have one that works very well however they arn't doing brilliant. A wind tunnel isn't completely accurate no matter how good it is, when I was at work experience at Mclaren we tested the same part 3 times and the results varied by 0.3 seconds around 3 corners, wind tunnels cannot be depended on. Ferrari cannot blame that as their only reason for poor performances.

I'll just put these here

Great performance by Lewis today - if only there was a realistic chance of him winning the race, but I can't see that happening unfortunately.

I agree with others, if there is any track on the Calender other than Canada for him to just win it. This would be the track, also with it being hard to pass and somewhat run a bit slow like Monaco, it isn't that far fetched.

And this

Bit new to F1?
This is what will happen...Lewis doesn't fight Blondie who simply waltzes past and off into the distance for another EPIC OMG BEST EVAR victory. The commentators are already dusting off the emergency (Racecar is Racecar) jokes and bottom-barrel quips about how they probably once met the likes of Hunt & Fittipaldi when rat-arsed in some dive bar next to track about thirty years ago...

...although we shouldn't complain too loudly, because you know, there's only another FOUR weeks before Spa!

Looks like someone hit JGreens in the head, quick someone get emergency crews to help stop the melodrama.

Also I think it would be best if everyone save his post. Oh and who commentates the race as you watch it, a couple of vagabonds with dreams of grandeur like your predictions?

And finally this more so the bold red part.

It was never about agreement it was about whether or not it happened before. It did with Lewis. End of story. You're just trying to argue with me for the sake of arguing at this point

No, I'm not I was just telling you where they were coming from. I wasn't the one that told you you were wrong, some one else did. If you are here to win a small argument so you can sleep at night more power to you, but don't drag me in as some guy trying to fight you. :dunce::ouch:

Also your original argument was that both MGP will fall out of points, but this is looking to be like Germany in weather so if that is so they'll be quite fine. Also let's use some logic (you that is) and realize this is a track like Monaco, even if they struggle a faster car would still have trouble passing. Also you have to take into consideration that such temps and running behind a slower car would hurt the chase car due to the track temp and add 5-7 degrees of heat from the car in front. When you factor all that, this isn't Spain thus it is unlikely especially with the car being better than the Spain version. However, if you want to switch the goal post to MGP have fallen out of the point this year to save face, once again go ahead. Oh but I must remind you a mod did tell us to focus on the one GP already, so get back to it.

People had overheating problems with Nico having the worse effect of it, and thus I'm glad to have had some good predictions come true this weekend.

Awesome race and glad I could see Lewis win. Great drive by Kimi as well and I hope Lotus can leap over Ferrari in WCC.

Button was the key to that race really, Hamilton passing him and Vettel not. Hamilton deserved the win after that. As for Grosjean penalty it was fair, he went four wheels over the line to make a pass.

Ferrari are also not looking good, a nothing race for them.

Also another prediction I had some time ago, that may take days to find is that this new tire is actually allowing Lotus to stay out a bit longer but come up to speed somewhat faster. Which is amazing, but I think one race isn't enough to tell us the story so I will wait to see further.

excellent passing all around. that's why they get paid to do what they do. Spa is going to be telling. as long as a certain someone knows the quickest way to the front is NOT over Alonso's shoulder...

As for Grosjean penalty it was fair, he went four wheels over the line to make a pass.

However where was the penalty for all the other drivers who also did the same thing (on other corners aswell)???

If everyone who did it was penalised then it would be fair however to only give penalties sporadically is not fair.

I love surprises like this after work

Vettel drove an ok race, however this race if anything proves again how when he is in traffic and not in clean air he isn't any better then other top drivers

EXACTLY. Ever wondered why Vettel has NEVER won lower than qualifying THIRD? Alonso has REPEATEDLY won from lower qualifying positions in a SLOWER CAR, so has Kimi. Vettel is a total fraud in a golden car.
