If NBC wants the NASCAR contract they WILL get it, because they are becoming the new home of Motorsports in the States.
If they were to pick up either TNT and/or ESPN's deal they would show NNS on NBCSN unless it conflicts with Indycar or NHL then they would show it on CNBC and Cup on NBC. This strategy is in use already for F1 as the race Sunday is on CNBC b/c of the Tour de France. NBC has the resources for NASCAR and they should go for it

NBC? The return of Bill Webber??!

I think we'll be satisfied with the current ESPN booth announcers (Alan, Andy, Dale) moving over to NBC. 👍 Pit studio can be Rusty Wallace and Kyle Petty. Pit road could be Jerry Punch, Jamie Little, Matt Yocum, and Ralph Sheheen.

I would love for NBC to take over the ESPN races as they would at least put Homestead on broadcast TV.* I wouldn't be shocked if most of the other chase races would be placed on NBCSN or CNBC though due to their NHL deal(I at least want to see the trophy awarded).

*Based on the F1 races they selected to air on NBC I would imagine they would at least air the SC finale.

Note that I said ESPN wants to get rid of the Nationwide series. I doubt they want to give up Cup races.
Also note that the ESPN thing isn't a rumor as it is based off of my observations. ESPN gave a race up last year to SPEED, and they've cut production costs down, including getting rid of Tim Brewer and his in studio thing. Meanwhile the ratings keep going down.
If I were to guess FOX will end up with the first 13 Cup races (With all of its Saturday Night races and the 600 going to Fox Sports 1), ESPN with the next 13, and NBC will grab the final 10 races with the west coast races on NBC Sports (So as not to conflict with Sunday Night Football, which will always have priority over NASCAR if NBC does pick up Cup races in the fall), and the Nationwide series will go to NBC Sports Network.
The "Have to have Nationwide to get the Chase" comes from an insider I'm buddies with.

ESPN is going to give up the final 10 races just like that?

Dating myself here...

With any forum I use, I just dont feel I should have to put people on ignore...but trust me I'm really contemplating it.

Does Petty really have much room to talk when it comes to racing? I mean not to give Danica a pass, but...

Almost everyone involved in Winston Cup racing, retired or not, is in a position to criticize the lady in green, if you asked me.

Does Petty really have much room to talk when it comes to racing? I mean not to give Danica a pass, but...

He did win 8 Sprint Cup races in his career, at Richmond, Dover, Rockingham (x3), Pocono, Charlotte, and Watkins Glen. He finished 5th in points in 1992, the year that six drivers went in to the final race with a mathematical chance to win the championship. He can say whatever he wants about her driving ability.

Apart from the qualifying part, which was pretty much false (how many times has DP qualified even in the top 25 apart from Daytona?) that was full of win :)👍
Wouldn't be surprised if TNT gives him the boot for stating his opinion.

He finished the same spot the following year too I started watching in 92. That's fine and dandy, don't get me wrong but he isn't hall of fame material to be honest and she probably wont ever be either. Also this isn't surprising since Petty usually tells it like it is. However, why give her more press, it just adds to what is talked about all the time, I'm sure nascar or someone has paid the television groups to talk up Danica to help gain another type of audience.

However, other rookies currently and upcoming should be put in the same group as Danica, and I mean Ricky Stenhouse (sp?). I only asked because if this were any other rookie I think you guys would be saying differently or not care, I dislike Danica too but can we stop talking about the moving crash barrier?

but he isn't hall of fame material to be honest

So now only Hall of Fame worthy talents should be allowed to critique other drivers? Really?

However, why give her more press

Because 99.7% of the press she gets is gushing with hype and isn't based anywhere in reality. I would rather hear the honest .3% (like what Petty said) 200 times before having to hear any of the rest of the 99.7% of her coverage once. It's very nauseating.

I don't think guys like Stenhouse should be in the same group as Danica. Stenhouse has proven what he can do in the Nationwide Series, winning two consecutive championships and multiple races. He's clearly a cut above as a driver. He's younger, faster, and has a way higher potential for future growth. He just doesn't have long hair and breasts, so he doesn't get picked to be in way too many commercials while benefiting from $20-25M per year in sponsorship from GoDaddy.

I would even put the upcoming stars like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Jeb Burton ahead on youth and potential alone. In fact, I will bet right now that one of these three guys will win a Sprint Cup race before Danica does.

"While Petty is certainly entitled to think what he wants about Patrick as a race car driver, using her qualifying position relative to her racing position isn't necessarily the best argument. Through 26 races in the Sprint Cup Series, Patrick's average finish of 26.8 is 6.8 positions better than her average starting position."

Danica's average finishing position is skewed. DNF's are given a numerical finishing position, as if she (or any other DNF) crossed the finish line.

Danica is turning out to be a field filler with a big sponsor on the hood. She didn't even "win" in Indy racing! Sure a victory was dumped into her lap. Ah certainly was not in contention to win on a race by race basis. I'm not a NASCAR HoF'er or Indy 500 winner so, I guess I'm not capable of realizing her inability to be a contender for Championships.

You mean that all three of them will win a Cup race while Danica won't.

All this is really saying is that she qualifies behind the start-and-parkers, then finishes ahead of them when they drop out and collect their money. Occasionally she'll put up a battle with the likes of the BK or Front Row cars. But most of the time she's riding behind them or complaining when they pull a slide job on her.

Friday morning LoLz:

Kyle Petty slams Danica: "She's not a race car driver"

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nasca...ys-danica-patrick-not-race-car-010709102.html

Technically, isn't he just repeating what we honestly already knew since Indycar? Guess its far since it still isn't said enough.

On the other hand though, I have to argue against the "because she's a girl" complaint because just based off that alone, why the hell does no one say anything about Johanna Long, Makena Bell or Casey Rustek?

And yeah, it doesn't take some HoF "credentials" to know the difference between a Race Car driver and someone that just drives fast cars.
