Jeff was 13th no wins. Ryan, as long as he was ahead of Truex, was in.

That's really confusing. P11 & 12 were wildcards. Anyone p13 - p43 are OUT.

NASCAR is assuming Ryan would've won and treating this as such, right?

Vickers' radio was the catalyst. According to NASCAR Bowyer's "spin" cannot be proven to have intent.

No, with the penalties being pre-chase, Newman now beats Truex on a tiebreaker. However, Bowyer's penalty is moot.

Yeah, that's a load of crap. There is this little thing called "telemetry". NASCAR didn't want to come down too hard and DQ MRW from the Chase as a whole.

Gordon is really ticked off. Kurt Busch has stated that they should put the 24 in as a 13th.

Newman has the slot because of the win at Indy, while Jeff has no wins to fall back on. If I'm reading this correctly with the 50 point fine before the reset, Bowyer essentially doesn't get penalized for direct involvement!? 👎 :grumpy: He should also be disqualified from the Chase with Gordon taking his place.

Gordon is out, let it go.

If Bowyer was far enough down to where 50 points would change the top 10 in points, then Jeff would have been in as well.

Bowyer wasn't, so that's that. It's a shame that the guilty driver doesn't receive any actual penalty and the one that had nothing to do with it is out.

NASCAR penalizes teams for slowing down and giving Logano spots, yet they think Bowyer's spin that led to all this was unintentional and pure coincidence, thus gets off free?

NASCAR flops again.

>Penalty is for diving and giving spots to Logano to screw Gordon
>not for Bowyer spinning to screw Newman
>Newman gets in and Gordon doesnt

wat. Does this make sense to anyone?

@JeffGordonWeb
Take me out of this completely. At this point all that matters to me is if @NASCAR decides to fix this then fix it completely!.

To me, Vickers parking three laps early to help Logano should be a completely legitimate and allowed move. It's no different from starting and parking, as those guys aren't making any real effort to finish the race; they just give up sooner.

If SHR went into the finale with a 46 point lead for Newman, and had Mark Martin and Danica both start and park to guarantee Newman the title, would Tony be fined? It's the same thing that Vickers did; he willingly parked to move Logano up the order.

Or did NASCAR go by points at the moment of the 15's spin? They are using the points from some fictitious moment in time. The whole thing is really screwed up. MRW should be DQ'd from The Chase period and MWR should be DQ'd from the Owner's Championship. $300,000 is nothing for MWR.

I like Clint, Michael put him in a really bad position.

Start & Park needs to be banned.

Remember guys, MWR is being penalized for Actions Detrimental to Stock Car Racing, not for just effecting the outcome. It would have to cause a big enough ****fit like this did in order for that to receive a penalty Ryan

80 point pre-chase penalty would have solved the issue. Bowyer would be eliminated from Chase.

This needs to be banned. Yes, there are mechanical failures. Those can be proven. Otherwise the team (and owner(s)) should receive a lifetime ban from all NASCAR sanctioned events. Drivers for "Start & Park" are just pawns and doing as they are ordered.

Didn't Speed lose his ride because he DIDN'T obey his overlord?

Are they also just going to forget that fact that Carl Edwards was in the wrong in that last restart?? I'm just saying, if they're going to fix what was wrong with that race, they should also look at that last restart....

Well, that never happened. The race ended when Clint yanked on the wheel.

They took a messed up soup and added a cup of salt to it.

It was points post-race, but before chase was reset.

I know I'm late to the party, but to ban start and parking is absurd. Start and Parking is a needed way for smaller teams to get going in this economy. They don't have the money or resources to run full events, so they don't.

Many top 20 teams started as start and park rides. The 13 team, who is in the top 15 week in and out started off as a start and park team that "should be banned." Front Row Motorsports, aka the team that swept the top 2 at Talladega started as a start and park team. And remember this, at one point the 78 car, a car that is well in the chase and championship hunt was once a start and park team.

So no, start and parking shouldn't be banned, and you should get your head from betwixt your cheeks.

First two points are true. 3rd point is 100% false.

Screw start & parkers, if they can't afford to run the full race, then don't try. I'd prefer 10 teams with 4 cars each that run every race and are all top tier, then 20 top tier, 15 lower tier former start and parkers, and 8 start and parkers

Nothing NASCAR has done since 2004 makes any sense. :dunce: Also, start and parks should not be allowed. If you're trying to attract sponsorship, running 10 laps at the back of the pack then parking is not helping the cause. Finally, I expect "Spingate" to severely damage whatever integrity NASCAR had left and further drive the attendance and TV ratings down.

So to somehow make up for one driver being screwed, they screw another driver. On one hand, I like hearing that Newman got in like he should have in the first place but on the other, I hate that Truex drove his heart out unaware of all this and he gets screwed. Either way, I'm much closer to just avoiding NASCAR as whole, period. I think I'll just completely the rest of the season and miss next season completely, which is a shame because I really did want to see the world's angriest super team (SHR) do some steller things.

I'm just too convinced at this point that I can't trust watching this series anymore without expecting someone to get screwed everyweek no matter what series (well apart from the K&N Series, the drivers seem to do a good job of screwing themselves up enough).
