I know it wasn't totally the car's fault. But that two car push has got the drivers on pins and needles when gets down to crunch time. Nationwide needs a Gen 6-esque car like sprint cup now.
Won't help at all since the wreck was caused by a blocking move of smith and then he got turned. The only reason larson went into the fence airborn was because of the secondary hit he received in the passenger door after initially going in head on and then that raised the car high enough to get air under it causing the blow over. It then just went in nose first, luckily not roof first for the drivers sake.

Furi seriously... First reminder was enough, then you quote it a minute later even though no one has posted another pic after your post?

Wait, what am I saying, this is just post whoring all over again...

Its doesn't matter, you will never stop a crash like that. That was caused purely by the speed and the angle of the car being hit as well as where it was hit. It has nothing to do with the design of the car, it was drivers going for it on the last lap. You can't fix that.

THATS HIGH!!

@ESPNNASCAR just posted that 15 were injured with one going into surgery with head trauma, probably from the suspension/tire going through

 You really don't like Furi posting a post of his post do you?

As for the NASCAR incident that was silly. I understand drivers can take all the risks they want but NASCAR just seems to be hit anyone out the way and see what happens in my view. It's not right, the drivers shouldn't be pushing cars towards the fans just so they can win. Its selfish. Yes the fans should be appear of the dangers but those accidents can be avoided by using a brain or sense.

I understand its dangerous, but these accidents happen because NASCAR has no rules or any kind of rules it seems on driving. Its just drive around on the back bumper, push your way through and hope you don't get hit off into the wall.

I didn't catch the race, saw the replay. I think it's about time NASCAR puts a stop to this two car tandem 🤬 and those catch fences.. they aren't very safe for anyone that's near them.

What hasn't been talked about though... what happened with Michael Annett?

The catch fence did its job, though.

So my dad just got back from a meeting at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a few days ago to discuss with them about a new safer catch fence.

He mentioned in the meeting if they thought NASCAR would consider it. Their response was "You can talk until you're blue in the face and they won't budge, they don't think their cars fly anymore, their cars don't go into the fences."

Right.

And people still want this type of racing?

Pathetic. I'll take my strung out single file parade over that mess. Better yet, best way to break up the packs, take the plates off. Make them slow down in the turns.

I just found out what happened. My opinion: I think NASCAR has gotten to the point where they can't race at tracks like Daytona anymore. It's to the point where you know during a race a wreck like that could happen at any time, and it shouldn't. I think they should seriously look at slowing the cars WAY down, or just stop racing at those kind of tracks.

THATS HIGH!!

Thats actually on the first deck. There is suites at the highest part of the lower deck.
I hope and pray that everybody is ok but thoughts and prayers go out to those people who are injured and their families.

Restrictor plates weren't the proper fix 25 years ago. What they should have done is use a smaller engine or stick with their V8's but have them tuned to where they were much less powerful.

Tandem racing is the cause of that mess.

You think the France family is going to go away from Daytona, when they own the track?

Edit - I would guarantee that today's events, while horrifying, will absolutely increase ratings quite significantly for tomorrow's race.

Well they need to slow the cars down some how, and get rid of the tandem draft permanently.

Don't know why they can't just lay the hammer down and say "NO TANDEM OR YOU'RE PENALIZED" instead of making all these tiny changes in hopes it keeps them from drafting.

Last time we had that at Talladega we had a snooze fest and then a ridiculous wreck near the end, 2009 was it?

Rethinking this part. Slowing the cars down in terms of power is only going to go so far. They need to remove the downforce. If they can't drive flat out, they can't push any other cars.

If they really want to end tandem drafting, they just need to make the bumpers so that they don't line up straight. It's the easiest and most effective solution.

But less downforce also means they will get sideways and flip easier, the spoilers keep them on the ground.

Yep, Brad's first win if I'm not mistaken.
