Speedcenter just showed another angle of the crash, where you can see the debris going into the stands. I think and certainly hope it's a good sign that NASCAR's letting them show it.

Deadspin has a cell phone video from a fan that was about 3 seats from where the tire landed. I'm not gonna link it here, but you can find it.

F1. Indycar. All dangerous as well. Part of motorsport is danger, we watch, cheer, and cower at the spectacle. Part of the danger gives the thrill. But no-one ever wants to see people seriously hurt.

Why do people watch NASCAR? Close racing? I swear people watch it to see the crashes. I dont watch motorsport for the crashes but the skills and excitement of racing. Some People who watch NASCAR like watching crashes.

Wasn't that the video that NASCAR removed from YouTube?

In case nobody does look up the Youtube video or it gets taken down, basically Sportscenter first reported on Danica's DNF before saying anything at all about the wreck.

Depends. People can get huge excitement from shop lifting. Yet that isnt fun to watch.

Which has nothing to do with anything being discussed.

but if people get a rush from watching people put their lifes at risk in horrible crashes then keep on watching.

This thread has nearly 100,000 views, a majority of the content is crashes.

You can sit on your soap box all you want, you watch motorsports for the same reason anyone else does, people pushing human and machine to their limits. It's dangerous, period.

People who watch NASCAR like watching crashes.

You are not worthy of being called a motorsports fan...

Some people do, but far from a majority. I think you're using the crash argument to buttress your personal distaste for it.

You talked about chess!!! I was making a comparison to you saying chess was boring.

I watch motorsport yes for people pushing the limits. I get no thrill or excitement from seeing super close racing which always ends up with crashes. Its pointless and no way pushing the limits but pushing each other.

One is a game, the other is not, you would have to be a complete idiot to think they are anything alike.

So why do you watch anything other than time trials?

Anyways, I'm done with you, I really need to get better at spotting trolls.

I've watched the video shot by a fan in the stands and it looks like there is a [closed] gate on the catchfence right where the debris came through, may be related...

Also I see on left of shot by track side a fan cowering as though he got hit or winded by debris.

Although, Danica retired before lap 40...that type of reporting would make sence, since that horrible accident occurred on the last lap. Usually, event reporting goes about in some sort of chronological order.

Im sorry when doing a comparison in sports are we limited by only doing it within sport related stuff? I did not know that...

I watch whatever I want. Im allowed my views. Same for you and others. Just because mine our different doesnt mean they are wrong. Its funny how you started having a go at me and view on the crash/NASCAR. Thanks for your time sir.

Not much can be done about the grandstands. Also, it would be ridiculous to build a much larger catchfence since debris in this crash went flying well over the top of the fence itself..
Actually the tire and debris went through the fence if you look close enough to the replay

The Daytona 500 will run as scheduled tomorrow; repairs are being made to the facility and NASCAR/Track investigating incident.

NASCAR statement on blocking of fan video
"The fan video of the wreck on the final lap of today's NASCAR Nationwide Series race was blocked on YouTube out of respect for those injured in today's accident. Information on the status of those fans was unclear and the decision was made to err on the side of caution with this very serious incident."

- Steve Phelps, NASCAR Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

Not entirely sure I want to watch the video of the crash. :indiff:

The camera follows Stewart then turns over as the smoke clears to see the hole, he then starts screaming ohh my god and then turns to the wheel maybe 3 chairs next to him and people standing around someone who you cant see in the video.

Also some sources (including Fox) have put it at "at least 28" with numbers into the 30's.
