So it's baseless theory time!

Today when I went to grab a bag of Bugles I noticed something odd about the usual car on front. On the side of the car the #31 was blurred and barely visible and only the #3 could be seen on top. Along with this Jeff Burton's name wasn't visible. Now, normally I would just write this off as nothing more than bad editing until I got thinking.

1) General Mills sponsored Austin Dillon at the Daytona 500.
2) Richard has said he has partial funding for a 4th car which would mean the third car is fully funded.
3) Austin is heavily rumored to use the #3.
4) GM has taken some time to update the car on the front of Bugles' bags. For awhile they still had the #43 even after they moved to RCR and they used the winged COT until they switched to the #31 on the package last year. So them being up to date with a Gen 6 car on the front is rather out of character.

Of course this is probably just the product of a bored mind, but it could happen.

AJ Allmendinger will become the full-time driver of the #47 Sprint Cup car for JTG Daugherty Racing in 2014, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday. Allmendinger has accepted a three-year deal to replace Bobby Labonte, who has been in the car since 2011. A formal announcement is expected Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Allmendinger will drive the #47 in Sunday's Cup race.(ESPN)(8-29-2013)

Not all that shocking considering his recent performance in the 47.

As for Labonte, I see his only options being either full retirement or a backmarker like his brother is occasionally.

Apparently there's a rumor going around that JTG Daughtry Racing will switch to Chevy in the off season, and become a RCR satellite team.

The other rumor is Furniture Row may switch to Toyota next year.

Mike Skeen currently fastest in Truck Series practice.

Also, FS1 is tape delaying qualifying tonight. I guess they can't push their schedule around to fit it in live and their daily NFL show must be more important.

(Why they have a daily NFL show when the season isn't on.....)

I think they are showing College Football now, which is just as bad.

Well, tomorrow is a day of sadness. There is a crap load of racing that will NOT be on FS1. It will be on FS2 and not in HD. The carriers who had Fuel simply kept existing contracts in place. Which is why Dish doesn't have FS2 in HD yet, and it's in the barren wasteland of the guide (being above the movie channels).

1-800-DIRECTV 💡

Directv sucks though. The Hopper is the best DVR on the planet. My neighbor has DTV, I'm not impressed. And there customer service is a train wreck. They lost me as a potential customer in 2006. I have friends who have had DTV recently and well aware of the crap they've put up with.

Dish doesn't need highly paid actors to sell their product.

Any idea as to what time it'll come on?

Also, what sort of times are being put up? Got to see how bad I'm getting my butt kicked in comparison

Final truck series practice runs to 5pm EST.

Not sure why FS1 was showing a tape delay College Football game.... they could have been covering NASCAR things leading up to the Ganassi announcement of Kyle Larson to the 42 next year. Truck Series practice earlier.. NASCAR Race Hub, NASCAR Live, etc.

Edit: Truck series practice isn't televised. Which sucks. Massively. Thanks Fox Sports. 👎

Edit2: Skeen ran a 1:22.795 in first practice. http://www.jayski.com/cts/next/2013/pdfs/cts_14ctmp2013prac1.pdf

Every time I hear or see 'Mike Skeen' I instantly think of Mike Skinner. :p

Good luck with that.

So odd hearing Bob Varsha call NASCAR practice.

But, at least he brings intelligence to the broadcast, and not a heavy southern accent.

Isn't that what Mike Joy usually does?

This is true. He wasn't scheduled for this weekend originally, and it turns out his mother passed away a few days ago so he wouldn't have been able to do the coverage.

Unfortunately Larry McReynolds is still on the air. :ouch:

Edit: I mean MACreynolds. Because no matter if it's Mc or Mac, it's always Mac to him. :ouch:

It's obvious the people masterminding Fox Sports 1, consider NASCAR and racing in general as the bastard child of sport.

Pathetic.

Montoya qualified third, continuing his best month so far this season. Maybe Chip should have told him back in February that he wouldn't be back next year.

Watch Montoya shred McMurray and half the field for the season remainder and fire his way in contention for a good drive.

Kenny Wallace in the booth is just as bad as "The Hillbilly Twins", but at least he doesn't butcher the English language every 5 seconds. 👍

Montoya has already outperformed McMurray all year long, with four top-5 finishes compared to one top-5 finish.

It seems like EGR, or at least Montoya has finally gotten their short track program together this year. It just sucks that Montoya's out the door.

Honestly I think JPM has a bad wrap, he has run upfront til his team either had crappy pit stops or something like that. He had issues at first wrecking people but wasn't he running closer to the front than most rookies now?
