Funny. That's the better looking of that model lol. It's better with bigger tires in the back though.

Without the vinyl top, I really like that model.
 
Yeah so back to the 2013 Shelby...

It's amazing that the rag top can give such impressive handling. 600+ horsepower going to the rears through a live axle on a convertible bodied car usually does not do well for chassis stiffness.

This is like the one thing that separates you from actual Americans. Most of us don't even remember that model much less like it.

It just oozes the 70's.
 
The only thing I liked out of that model was the King Cobra II's. Swap the crappy smog 5.0 out with something better or clean it up and you have a stout car. As bad as it is, it actually sold millions more then the few years before it since sales started rapidly dropping in 1969 because the car got too big.

Sucks all the big/small blocks were dropped though.

Vert looks amazing, silver is a common color but I had a silver car and once done washing, clay and finally waxing the car it was prestine!

I seen a couple maybe 7 newer GT500s so far in the SF Bay Area, but have yet to see a '13 GT500.
 
Seen alot of '13 V6s, a few 5.0s but no GT500s. In the San Jose, SF Bay Area.

I love the front, and the back looks way better than any '05+ Stang.

This is a beast car for sure, I can't wait till they bring out some track data, that insideline "track" test is bs. That test shouldn't be the complete answer to which will be better on track.

I remember reading about the v6 Mustang and how it was faster than 370z, STi, Evo (all of which have better skidpad #s than the mustang).

Poor insideline, when magazines do a REAL track comparison they are going to eat their own words!

I'd still rather have a Laguna Seca than a ZL1, the ZL1 isn't that much faster than it on the road course (Willow Springs, I think is the track that they used), I don't have the article but I think it was an old MotorTrend article
 
The Camaro/ mustang battle has been raging so long I feel like it's the same as the Evo/ sti rivalry. In the end its a matter of which one you like more for unique reasons more than it is about which is a 1/10th faster at this or that test.

That said, I saw a nice brandnew 5.0 and I really thoUght it looked good. I might even go so far as to say it looked better than the new camaros.

That's all it really comes down to, people will get into arguments about the big 3 and it turns into a brutal stalemate every time. It's which company you grew up with, or you had the most success with, other sentimental values, etc. That makes you sway to one side..... As I'm a ford guy :)

It comes across as lower, wider, sleeker.
Now, don't go getting the impression this is a generalized fanboy thing here or anything like that, I do not feel like the older neo-retro mustangs look better than the camaros, this is something that only happened recently.

Just the same, the 5.0 I saw was being driven like a jerk (who turned out to be a woman), accelerating and braking hard when it was obviously not needed during stop-n-go traffic. Actually made me think of a gtp conversation I had a little while back regarding what sort of stereo types exist about Mustangs in the South, kinda reminded me why I still wouldn't buy a mustang (I hate being stereotyped). ;)

Not a fanboy thing either. Back in '11 when I was looking to buy a car I was dead set on a Camaro 2SS. I was willing to look at the competition (Challenger R/T and 5.0 Mustang). But when I test drove the Camaro I couldn't stand how it was near impossible to see out of the thing! The Challenger R/T was nothing to write home about. The 5.0 was amazing though, and I liked the styling a little more than the Camaro. So I picked my car based on what I experienced, not being a fanboy.

The Camaro/Mustang rivalry or better yet Chevy/Ford rivalry has been going on since the 1960s. I've seen people get in fist fights over it, and actually not ong ago I read somewhere on the internet some guy actually stabbed someone over it and then proceeded to shoot him :scared:

Little overboard there. Personally I'd never take it that far. I have a little fun with the debate but that's just overkill. No pun intended.

I'm biased toward Chevy and I have to say the new Shelby is gorgeous, way better looking than the Camaro.

Here in the northwest, it's the guys who drive the civics, the road going rally cars, dodge neons, etc. with the giant mufflers that don't really muffle that get stereotyped, the Camaro / Mustang / Challenger stereotype doesn't happen as often as compared to people yelling at the lowered civics that end up doing 40-50 MPH on residential roads. In fact there's an entire mustang club that would show up once a week in a parking lot around town, and from what I've seen is that they pretty much behave and just talk around, and there are some nice ones, there's a Roush, I think there's a Boss, and a Shelby and quite a few heavily modified ones that look decent

Subaru owners arent common in Louisiana and wrx/sti owners are even fewer. Makes it hard for stereotypes. Cruising the coast in mississippi is a huge event and probably American car owners at their finest (tons of mustangs).
