I think what he was saying is in 10 years, 660 HP wont be as insane as it sounds now.

Edit: And why not look at a Boss? They're a bit cheaper, and you could get some sort of Aftermarket Supercharger to get it closer to 660. And they can take a corner.

As long as we're talking about actual HP numbers and not manufacturer claims, then yes. Perhaps you should consider explaining your point in more detail instead of just claiming that HP in the 80s was more HP than it is today.

Oh please. Out of all the manufacturers in the world, Ford has got to be one of, if not the, biggest supplier of factory-supplied "aftermarket" parts to their cars. I am positive somewhere in the Ford Racing catalog is a supercharger kit that will bolt right up to a Boss 302.

I'm not saying Ford doesn't supply aftermarket parts for their cars. I'm saying that in 40 years a completely stock GT500 will be worth more than a modified one, even if those mods are made with Ford parts. 100% original vintage cars tend to carry a big value boost.

I dont think he wanted it as a collector car (Actually claimed it was his "Retirement Car" Which would mean a fun car, not an investment). So based on the info he provided, I gave an alternative.

I'm not trying to be insulting, really, but have you ever driven cars from the 80s and mid 90s? There's definitely a progressive feel of more and more and more power. There's nothing relative about it. A new V6 camry feels loads faster than 80s corvettes because it is, in fact, loads faster than 80s corvettes. What exactly about a unit of measurement is relative?

The unit of measure makes no difference now than it did then. Units changed in the early '70s from flywheel hp to rwhp.
 
I think what he was trying to say (Relating to the power) is that the average hp(or BHP or rwhp or whatever unit you wish to use) goes up over time. While 200-400 hp isn't exactly earth-shattering today, in the 50's that would have been quite a lot. What he's saying is 660 _hp (No I dont care who measured it or where it was measured- Just whatever quantity of horsepower it has) is alot more "Awesome" or "Neat" or "Oh dude, so dope" than it might be in 30 years.

Put todays GT500 against the one from yesteryear (1968?) And it would get murdered. In just about every statistic.

That doesnt make the 60's one any slower than it was meant to be, it's jsut that the newer versions are faster.

Right now, if you buy a GT500 '13, you will have the fastest Mustang. But in 30 years, someone will buy one for (Adjusted for inflation) just about the same price, and it will be MUCH faster.

In that way, the power is relative in relation to the year.

600 hp today? Oh ok, a supercar. We have tons of those. No big deal.

I see what you're saying now.

I really think the image of a super car is just blah now. I mean yeah cool, tehy are just there. They don't seem as special to me anymore like old Porsches, Ferrari's and Lambos used to.

Shelby American has unveiled a one-off Mustang GT500 Cobra at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Created as a tribute to Carroll Shelby, the model has a Guardsman Blue exterior with white body stripes. It also features a wide body kit, a new hood and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The car's 5.8-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger. It enables the mill to produce more than 850 hp (634 kW / 862 PS) which is a healthy improvement over the standard model's 662 hp (494 kW / 671 PS).

The car will tour the United States and could eventually be used to support one of Carroll Shelby's favorite charities.

I drove a GT500 today in work....man that thing is crazy!!!

After driving the RS Focus, a FPV Panther and a XR6 Turbo....the GT500 was a wild animal!

it almost makes me want to trade in my Old Golf GTI lol
