Gonna start using faster ghosts rather than my own. I'm having trouble finding any way to pull ahead of mine's more than a few inches.

If you weren't 4 tenths faster than me I'd give you some advice. :sly:
All I can say is that I get my best results when I remember that it lets you take more inside kerb through Maggots-Becketts than anywhere else on the track.

Doesn't matter how fast you are or aren't. I read your advice and payed attention to the kerb to use more of it. Been fighting that damn spot since we started the academy. Was able to drop 2 tenths in about an hour and just put in a clean 17.782. Appreciate it Watson ;). Always something to be learned.

Another thing to try is using a ghost from someone else, but not too fast. Like #9 US.

 I'm always a better race engineer... My problems always seem to be execution.

GJ 👍

Ditto.

Also, I can't time trial worth a damn, but I can race. Hence my problem finding time here. Funny that people who used to call me an alien are faster than me now. :sly:

Got mad enough at dropping out of the US 250 to wake up early for another session.
40min at the wheel and I'm down to 2'19.214. Hoping to end in the 18's somewhere.
Oh, and Copse gets a big 👎:grumpy:

I see ponystig joined the 17 club... I really need to get over that 18 wall.

I haven't been on in a couple days and I've still managed to stay in the top 65. I was chasing Outlaw's ghost when I posted a clean and smooth 2:18.457, and a few times I nearly broke down into the lost 18.1s but screwed up near the end of the track. My biggest issue seems to be getting on throttle out of turn 4 and the bus-stop chicane coming to the finish line, the top dogs are pulling a few car lengths on me through there! I use a controller, so I was wondering if I just don't have enough throttle control to get off of those corners properly. Any other controller players have any advice?

Lol, I'm gone now too. Feeling an unexplainable urge to reinstall the GTA and waste more time. Must resist.

Sliding off line isn't normal, but on Copse, it is. Copse: not even once.

It looks like such a fun corner to take correctly, judging by the top guys' replays.
But yeah, I haven't hit it correctly even once yet. Always feels like helpless coasting until power-on looks safe.

Going to take Spurgy's advice to heart (from the GT Academy July 2013!! thread):

Those two corners [1st corner and Copse] both require a fair amount of drifting. If you turn fairly sharply as you gradually (too quickly and you won't get good rotation, you will just understeer) lift off the brake you should feel the back end step out. Then you just need to learn to feel the rotation and control it which will take time but will make it a lot easier to go faster once you have.

If by some divine miracle, I make it to Silverstone, let's just say a certain corner going to feel my wrath.

I'd like to take a pee @ the loop.

Maybe this has been said already but does anyone have information in regards to the US National Finals like location and date? I know NY has been mentioned and something about Time Square was put up recently.

I beat my lap 3 times last night. But only went from a 17.969 to a 17.944 lol. If I could ever put decemt lap together could hit a .5 or .6, good luck with that haha.

Sorry TRACT10N .... I'm bubble boy now. ;)

Haha dang now I have to get back grinding some laps!

17.645 thanks to what's probably the best second sector I've ever run. First portion was really lousy, though.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say GL to all the people pushing for the top spots! Never thought I even had a chance so I'm super psyched to be in the top ten. Hope to see you guys at Nationals!

Another one from Vegas. First Eddie and now 2 more... must be something in the AC out there.

Yes Tim, we are going to have a Ocean's Eleven style planning and strategy meeting at a rich guy's mansion, or In 'N Out, whichever.

Doherty is from Chicago, so it's my goal to make Chicago the breeding ground for Academy champions, not Vegas lol.

Great lap by the way Three3.

:) Maybe it is, because last year I finished around 300th and that was when I lived in NY, now in Vegas I'm in 7th haha!

Thanks man, you too :)

I agree. But what about the meeting at a penthouse suite overlooking the Strip or at those rooms for special events in a high end resort. ;)

Us Vegas guys gotta plan carefully to strike.

Last year there were three of us from Portland OR, hopefully we can do it again this year!
Best of luck to everyone!

Good thing the NE still has another Barbato to rep us. ;)

A #2 would make it rhyme...:p
And nice job on nabbing Bubble-boy honors.

Nice lap there.👍
I chased this ghost for 2 hrs, thinking I was doing OK by being a couple car-lengths back prior to Copse, but every time you took off from there.
Then I saw this post afterward and realized your lousy T1 is my best. :dopey: That was around a 38.1(?) for T1, if I recall.

Ended at the doorstep of the 2'18's, but they're not letting me in with a 2'19.079. I'll be happy with a few more tenths over the next 10 days.
