Last year there were three of us from Portland OR, hopefully we can do it again this year!
Best of luck to everyone!

Keep it up Brian! We need to all make it again. Looks like Dan and I might be safe for now and I can run faster for sure if I need to. Don't want you to miss out this year! We can party on the plane ride together lol.

Nice lap there.👍
I chased this ghost for 2 hrs, thinking I was doing OK by being a couple car-lengths back prior to Copse, but every time you took off from there.
Then I saw this post afterward and realized your lousy T1 is my best. :dopey: That was around a 38.1(?) for T1, if I recall.
IIRC, my S1 was a 37.91 when I had quite a few 8s and 7s so it will be interesting chasing my ghost from behind.

As for Copse, I'll have to watch that thing of beauty because I don't know how I did it that well.

Wish I had more time for this to make it 4 from PDX, but even if I had more time I doubt I'd be able to make the cut. GL guys!

The run through copse is good, but you make all your bacon from Maggots-Aintree-Becketts. You got a really hot run through there. Also got a really solid exit from Luffield. Going to chase you around today... 👍

Correct. My run through the S's was a well-cooked, crunchy piece of bacon. It was delicious! :dopey:

Well done outlaw! Hope you make it to the finals! :) As for me, I think I've lost interest in running laps. I'll keep an eye out on the thread and keep cheering you guys on!

Yeah, I chased your .6 around today and wasn't making it happen in s2 today so I was stuck in the 18.1's ... bloody hottest day of the year, had to escape to the air conditioning of the cinema for a few hours in the afternoon (saw Pacific Rim... pretty disappointing... I expected more than a 2 hour robot fight from Del Torro).

But yeah, I had a few runs where I was on your ghost through copse but you pulled .3 to .4 by the Chapel split. I've been consequently trying out your line through there now that I've seen it's fast enough. I was using Adam's line of dropping the left two tires over the high-kerb and using the bounce to slide through Aintree. That's pretty random though... your line is much more stable and predictable.

You should be safe with that lap though. GJ mate. 👍

Yeah I'm trying. I was really feeling it last night running with let_canada_in's ghost (17.222). I can hang even with him through Corpse (as i call it cause it kills me every time I need a good turn), I'll be a couple tenths off the back at the end of the hanger straight, and then I would lose it all in the final chicane. I just need to work on the final two corners and get consistent then a 17.5-7 should come rather easy. I'm struggling with a line through there to get me a good exit. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!👍

Adam who?

GTP_Aderrrm is competing under GT_ADAM in the UK competition.

I think I've got a driving style down a little better. Decided to start following titech's ghost and was able to run quite a few 17.5's - 17.9s but those lower times in red due to bumping over curbs too far. Managed to put myself into 11th thought with about an hour or two tonight.

I've gone backwards the last two days but with times stagnating across the board, I'm in a good spot. I may just take it easy until the cut line drops another tenth.

After so many mess ups and red laps, I finally managed to get a 2:21.120 this morning :). I'm currently at 914th place and I'm STILL trying to find a excellent line by combining some of Tidgney's trials with some of outlaw's impressive time and my smooth, but aggressive corner entry into one for maybe a 2:17.50 to a 2:18.90.

When I watched your ghost outlaw, it pushed me even further, but I always go off track or get too much oversteer and I then have to correct the steering, thus losing time :ouch:. Even to the point of my controller's left analog stick to give out! Thanks outlaw...:p:lol:

I'm happy I'm still under the 1k ranks (my previous score was 2:21.811@ 889th place a few days ago.) Now I'll use outlaw's or doodle's ghost to study the lines later. 👍 Just hope that the heavy thunderstorms won't give me trouble or knockout the power when I try later. :scared:

so where do I get my "Club 17" Jacket? ;)

btw, nice job knocking LP off the top to reude.

I'm afraid Club 17 only has stickers, club 16 is the one with jackets, hot girls, drinks and all that.

I'm nowhere near Club 16:grumpy:

I would presume that means the actual cut line is at least 36th. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Just for fun, where would I stand in other countries, would I make their cutoff and what's the 31st fastest time for the larger countries?

Time: 2:17.645

United States: 10th, IN, 2:17.921 (.996 if going with 36th)
Japan: 20th, ?, 2:17.983
France: 33rd, OUT, 2:17.616
Italy: 17th, OUT, 2:17.997

Since there are a few more that are ineligible outside the top 10 as well I think it's more like 41/42. 1st page of this thread has a list showing some if not all of the people who are ineligible. GL man!

Yeah, I didn't check past 10th. Too lazy.
Same. 👍

BTW, I dropped a spot between this and the last post.

yeah I think the *real* cut is in the 18.0's somewhere. That will move by Sunday though... I've already fallen 3 since yesterday.

I've only gone from 6th to 8th since posting my time a week ago but more recently, today especially, a bunch of people are creeping right up! :nervous:

Last year i put in my final time about 5 days before the competition ended. Was ranked 4th and dropped to 17th.

Was the final online qualifier available for the entire duration? For some reason (I was a GT5 noob at the time) I remember them only opening each "practice" round once a week, culminating in the final time trial at motegi which for some reason I'm only remembering to be a week long instead of this years 28 days or whatever. Am I completely wrong?

Yeah, last year rounds 7 and 8, with 8-5 being the qualifier, opened two weeks before deadline, so we had half the time.

I just tried to improve my time tonight. Then I came to the reality that my trailbraking is more luck than skill.
