I'm just going to say this Welcome Di Maria :D. Cant wait till this signing goes through hopefully it will be done by the start of next week. And @V8-Johnboy I told you so our signings would hopefully pick up the last week of transfers :p. If this goes through of course.

Getting there.:sly:;)

BBC and Sky sports also reporting around €60-70 mill so Woody was right about us breaking the transfer record.
A world class centre mid now would be nice, cant help feel he's probably gonna wait on Strootman.

It's beyond me why Madrid would even sell Di Maria and treat him the way they have one of the best wingers in the world at the moment with still a lot of potential this will be a good buy if we get him :)

£58 million plus £200k/wk for Di Maria

Smells like desperation.

Don't really need any more players, current ones are good enough but it will be a bonus to get some more experience in. Just need the work of management team to make the players perform every game to a high level. That is most important thing. Miracles are not needed, just the blip to be overcome which means getting rid of Moyes mentality.

Your manager would appear to think differently...

Man Utd: Louis van Gaal says title win would be 'a miracle'
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says it would be "a miracle" if his side win the league this season.

United face Sunderland on Sunday having lost their opening Premier League match of the season against Swansea.

Van Gaal, 63, is trying to rectify an "unbalanced" squad, though the club have refused to comment on a possible move for Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria.

"To win the title this season would be a miracle. But that isn't to say that it isn't possible," he said.

Winger Di Maria, 26, has told Real he wants to leave and Paris St-Germain are said to be unwilling to meet an asking price thought to be in excess of £50m.

That sum exceeds the British record fee Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres in 2011.

Dutchman Van Gaal said United's owners are aware it would be "very difficult" to win the title this season.

"I think the Glazer family understand this or I would not have accepted this job," he said.

Van Gaal signed a three-year contract to become United boss following his departure as Netherlands coach after the World Cup.

He won the title in his first season at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but believes a manager should be judged in his second year.

"What I did at Bayern Munich was a miracle because the team was not stable when I got there," he said.

"When I took over from Bobby Robson at Barcelona, he had won three titles, so there was stability.

"The problem I have at United is that the selection is not balanced. There are five number nines and six number 10s - and we don't have enough defenders."

It smells like exactly what Man City do. Only this time it's the red half of Manchester which has opened its chequebook.

Unless Mata will be dropped or Di Maria will defend, he doesn't fit in with LVG's system.

People don't realise he plays with a 4-4-3 he's using a 3-5-2 at the moment because we don't have the players. If we get Di Maria its a step in the right direction imagine Di maria, Mata, Roony, Januzaj, RVP and Herrera all playing at once :)

Who will he start ahead of? Doesn't he play in the same position as Mata? If so they are spending 60-70 million for a slightly better version of Mata when they have weaknesses in so many other areas.

No, he's a wide midfielder. We have one sufficient player there at the moment - Januzaj. And he's not starting every game.

It's not our biggest weakness, but it's the next best thing.

He's a Versatile player exactly what Van Gaal is after will do good in this team and this is not a panic buy. We don't have world class players who are good at taking on players. He deserves the number 7.

The Mirror have jumped the gun I think, the BBC are reporting the deal isn't actually finalised yet but Di Maria has said goodbye to his Madrid team mates. And Madrid have said they will sell him for a whopping £75m.

RVP is back for United against Sunderland, so is Valencia but Cleverly plays because Herrera picked up a knock in the week...

...as for Di Maria, like him a lot think he is a world class winger, but everyone is getting over excited on Twitter about it, he is not going to solve all our problems...

Mata!!! United 1-0!

1-1 at half time, Rodwell with the equaliser....

We're looking like outside bets for relegation.

Good job I can ask all the Palace fans what that feels like.

Same as last season but with a different manager, another poor performance Jones was the only player to have a good game.....no quick fixes here, going to be a long season....

Just finished watching the United game.

I don't know about Di Maria... a couple of centre halves and a decent central midfielder would seem to be what the side needs more than anything else.

And nice to see Young is still trying to impress the British Olympic Diving Team selectors.

According to Sky Sports Man United have agreed to pay 63.8 million pound for Di Maria. I think we need more for defence rather than attack.

Maybe it wasn't Moyes's fault after all.

Sky Sports News reporting that a fee has been agreed for Di Maria for £63.9 million...80 million Euros, top class player, paying at least 20 million too much for him though...

If I were Di Maria I'd join the nearest circus. Oh wait we are a circus.:boggled: I was actually laughing it was so bad!!!!!!!!!:indiff::ouch:

Yep... he's worth 40, absolute tops.

Guess he'll be on a massive contract too... 5 years, £200k/wk... so around £115 million over the contract period.

A decent dent in the Adidas money.

At least United will have someone to take over from Young in the diving competition... Di Maria is the worst I've ever seen.

If you don't think we need Di maria. Would you prefer young or Di maria on the wing? He is a top player and something we dont have. FFS all you complainers we need all the help we can get. And desperate times will cost us to pay up. I hope we get Vidal and Blind next :). When all players are fit our squad will be dominant. Still early days as well.

Although a good signing, I think Di Maria is the wrong signing. Yes, he is world class so, he will do good but, he should not have been a 35+ million player. To me, he doesn't suit the Premier League. He's too weak and too small to really make a big impact on the game.

We can sit here complaining about the signing of Di Maria but its not going to do anything if your a man utd fan we can celebrate that Woodward signed one of the best players available with more signings to come. It's a gamble when signing players and we are gambling with Di maria. Hey it may not be what we need at this exact moment but as Van Gaal said he likes Di Maria and we don't have someone of that quality but now once we sign him we will :).
