He doesn't have to serve it, he'll have it added on the end of his total time if he doesn't. So he needs to be 5+ seconds ahead of 11th at the end of the race.

Not that it'll change much for team championship at least. I doubt Caterham will catch up more than 11th or 10th or even 13th place for the rest of the season.

It's a new penalty this season, it's not like the old S/G penalties that had to be done in the race within three laps, and it also doesn't have to be done alone. They can do it within a pit stop, so it's basically just a 5 second penalty, not a full pit stop penalty.
 
Hmm, take penalty on pitroad and lose 25 seconds or ignore it and just have 5 seconds added?

And people say that F1 has logical penalties :lol:.
