@vasiliflame - Given his current form, I'd be surprised if he lasts that long. As Martin Brundle pointed out, his best result this year has been seventh. If he can't match Alonso this weekend, Ferrari may just decide to let him go, probably after the summer break to give them time to find someone suitable to replace him.

It would be a very un-Ferrari thing to do, but they have changed their management structure and their design team, all to no avail.


Yes, they completely butchered it. They removed a slow chicane and a single-file-only section through a double hairpin. In its place, they put in a pair of fast sweepers and made Brooklands a viable overtaking spot by turning it into a tricky mid-speed sweeper that feeds into a hairpin.

The old Silverstone was horrible. Everything from Copse to Club was fine, but then they just ran out of ideas. The new Silverstone added a sequence of bends that is actually consistent with the rest of the circuit. Abbey and Village in particular fit perfectly with the other corners.

You misunderstand me. I was referring to Silverstone pre 1987.
You know, the original high speed layout that sorted the men from the boys. Not a hairpin in sight and one of the highest average speeds, over 150 mph, of the Grand Prix world. The slowest corner was Becketts and that was a 90 degree corner. What's not to love about that?

Ugh... Not this rubbish again. Nico has one of the fastest men on the grid as a teammate, yet he's still beating him. Is boxing all about who can throw the hardest punch? Is football all about who can score the best goal? No. There are many factors to success in sport. If Nico can overcome a quicker teammate and win the championship then he thoroughly deserves it.

I couldn't have put it better myself.
Winning races takes brains as well as speed. Look at what happened in Q3.
Senna was faster than Prost and kicked him silly in '88. Alain took this on board & used brains to be within a shot at the title heading into Suzuka and the rest is history.
He learnt that lesson from a very crafty teacher in one N.Lauda during their title struggle in 1984.
 
In 1982 Keke Rosberg won the championship having only a singe win, one pole position and zero fastest laps for the year. Clearly he wasn't fast enough to deserve a world championship either :lol:.

Well said, and a driver can win a single race on sheer speed, but it takes more than that to win a championship.

Nico's done a really amazing job. It's Lewis's to lose and he really is giving Nico all the chances to beat him. It's going to be an interesting race today. It's not as claustrophobic when it comes to lines as Austria was, and not as short of course, so there will be plenty of places to overtake. But it will come down to strategy once again, I'm hoping Lewis worked on his positioning in the box, because from what I've heard he's the one responsible for his slower stops. Nico just has cleaner ones allowing him to get in and out faster.

I'm really hoping for a thriller here, and rain as well, although that doesn't seem likely from what I've seen. Really hoping for a Button podium! Would be absolutely awesome to see, but it'll be tough especially with Vettel there being more ready than ever for a podium himself.

And with the Ferraris and Williams at the back, I don't think you can set up a more awesome starting grid, in regards to entertainment potential, on paper than this.

Australia - Hamilton pole but his car broke down, Monaco - We all knew how quali went, Austria - Hamilton started ninth but was on his bumper by the end showing much more speed, I'll admit he's a much smarter and more consistent driver but he tends to inherit his wins just like Silverstone last year.
 
LH brakes were smoking a bit there, team trying to cool it now. Have one eye on that developing.

You're assuming that if Hamilton had not had those problems, then he would have won those races. Which you absolutely cannot prove, and therefore have not refuted anything.

But I'll see your Australia, Monaco and Austria, and raise you a Canada. Both drivers had the same problem at the same time. Hamilton destroyed his brakes and retired. Rosberg anticipated the problem, managed it for half a race, and took a podium even though no-one in the team believed it possible at the time.
 
Yesterday's qualifying surprised me alot when the time start to tumble down by the last minute, I just hope we've an awesome race today!

So does this restart mean they will do it in the position they started as or were in prior to the caution?
