Last year I said:
So starting today I'll be covering the FA Cup as I have done in previous years, but right from the start rather than merely from the 1st round (where league clubs join the fray) or 3rd round (where Premier League and Championship clubs join) - support your local non-league team!
But then I realised that:
Let me tell you that keeping track of the preliminary and qualifying rounds is a 'mare. Smaller teams get hoyed out of the competition on the eve of their next match for some tiny infraction left, right and centre.
So this year I'm only going from Round 1. Maybe I'll backfill in the Qualifying, Preliminary and Extra-Preliminary rounds later...

First Round
League clubs from Divisions One and Two (Tier 3, Tier 4) join the remaining 32 non-League sides who've qualified for this stage.

The lowest-ranked remaining teams are Didcot Town (Tier 8), Northwich Victoria (Tier 8), Barwell (Tier 7), Chesham United (Tier 7), Salford City (Tier 7), Staines Town (Tier 7) & Stourbridge (Tier 7).

We only had one qualifying round to overcome to get into the main draw. And we bloody lost! Against Gainsborough Trinity. A team in the division below. At home. Ugh. At least we can focus on the league now.

Trivium: The 2008 and 2013 winners of the FA Cup are entering at the first round this year. Portsmouth and Wigan. Just 7 years, and two years after their triumphs.

I need to keep an eye out on Colwyn Bay now as they are in the same division which two of my local team plays in now. They play Halesowen next in the league.

Hate all this luvvy duvvy attention they're getting just because some big names are attached but fair play, Salford. Great win, great goal.

It was a great win for Salford and an fantastic goal 👍

Well done to Altrincham, Forest Green and Eastleigh on knocking out FL teams, Stourbridge knocked out Dover, a team one division above them and Northwitch earn a replay against Boreham Wood

Chesham United of the Southern League Premier Division knocked out League Two Bristol Rovers earlier, National League North Brackley get a replay against Newport, National League South Maidenhead earn a replay against Port Vale and Whitehawk beat Lincoln 5-3.

Second round on this weekend starting with Salford v Hartlepool live on BBC 2 from 7.30, Gary Neville will be there and then fly out to see his Valencia team play tomorrow..

Home to Sheffield United and away to Oxford for my teams, some intriguing ties including Exeter v Liverpool and five all Premier League ties including Spurs v Leicester, which should be good...

FA Cup third round this weekend, here's the TV schedule for it

Friday Night

Exeter v Liverpool (7.55pm,BBC One)

Saturday

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12.45pm BT Sport 2)
Man United v Sheffield United (5.30pm BT Sport 2)

Sunday

Oxford v Swansea (12pm BBC)
Chelsea v Scunthorpe (2pm BT Sport 1)
Tottenham v Leicester (4pm BBC)

All the games that aren't televised on Saturday are 3pm Kick-offs, three games not on TV on Sunday are Carlisle v Yeovil at 2pm and Cardiff v Shrewsbury at 6pm, no game on Monday night as there is a full programme of PL games in midweek next week

Well not too much in the way of Big shock thus far, of course there is Exeter 2-2 Liverpool last night, Wycombe drew 1-1 with Villa earlier, Eastleigh were 1-0 up v Bolton but that goes to a replay too, West Brom were 1-2 down to Bristol City but Morrison equalised in the dying moments to take that to a replay, a few League One and Two teams knocked out Championship teams but thats it really, Arsenal and Man City both won comfortably.

Man United v Sheffield United on now in the pouring rain, Van Gaal's named a strong team....

Man Utd having most of the possession but with no end product and the goalkeeper of the Blades looked untroubled so far. If they can get a replay at Bramall Lane then this can get interesting........

*sigh* same old story, we are at home to a League One team.....

:indiff::indiff::indiff:

Well that was a let off, Rooney penalty in the 93rd minute, 1-0

Find it funny watching the BT Sport coverage knowing that Paul Scholes scored a more recent goal in first half as home team at Old Trafford than current Man Utd team...

Well that was a let off, Rooney penalty in the 93rd minute, 1-0
At home to Sheffield United, 58 places below I believe it was, and 2 shots on target in around 100 minutes. I'd say THAT is more embarrassing than having 20 shots on target and losing 1 nil like a usual "Giant Killing".

Oxford just took a 2-1 lead at home to Swansea...

For my own amusement:
1 Arsenal - through
2 Leicester -
replay
3 Man City - through
4 Tottenham -
replay
5 Man Utd - through
6 West Ham - through
7 Crystal Palace - through
8 Liverpool -
replay
9 Watford - through
10 Stoke - through
11 Everton - through
12 West Brom -
replay
13 Southampton - out
14 Chelsea - through
15 Norwich -
out
16 Bournemouth - through
17 Swansea -
out
18 Newcastle - out
19 Sunderland - out
20 Aston Villa - replay

We can probably agree that Chelsea's position is a bit false due to the players rebelling against Mourinho after the Eva Carneiro thing, but Oxford probably fancied their chances going into this one!

Edit: And Swansea are out, 3-2

Swansea terrible, Curtis should've named a stronger team, well done to Oxford...

Chelsea 2-0 Scunthorpe, goals from Costa and Loftus-Cheek, fairly routine and comfortable for Chelsea but Scunthorpe did well.

Spurs-Leicester last game of the weekend, 15 changes between them, Gray makes debut for Leicester

OXFORD
YYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Roofe's 1st goal was awesome, and it was nice to see a few Shelvey sky shots flying into the car park

Good debut for Gray. But Leicester were robbed of a win, poor decision by the ref to give the penalty.

Spurs 2 - Leicester 2.
