I'm not 100% sure what goes on with the system to be honest. In the new Murano there's two microphones in the roof liner (front & back) and then the speakers in the doors. The microphones listen for certain frequencies and then the speakers output frequencies that counteract them, so they cancel eachother out. Makes the cabin quieter, or at least to the human ear. I just had to work on one that was malfunctioning where the system, instead of minimizing the noise, it was actually amplifying it. Turned out to be a bad speaker.Isn't the noise cancelling directed towards the engine, not into the cabin?
