But GT500s are still known to handle. Watch it be around 700 horses but outhandle the Hellcats as well.
GT500s have never been known to handle. Even though the latest gen. took a big step forward, it's still a big, heavy car that has zero issues stepping out the tail & eating up rear tires with moderate use. It will probably be exactly like the Hellcats.

Since this the 350 & not the 500, I imagine it won't cost me $50,000+ after the first 4-6 months on the market?

It is strange. I wonder what witchcraft they've done with the exhaust.
They might have pulled a Subaru on purpose to get a rumblier sound. As long as they don't do anything funny with the pipes close to the engine there wouldn't be any performance issue.

Don't spill hate all on my garments.

This thing is supposed to compete with the Z28 except air conditioning probably comes standard.

EDIT: According to the Car and Driver article, the GT350 is not equipped with R-compound tires like the Z28. The Chevy has Pirelli Trofeo R tires while the Ford has Michelin Pilot Super Sports which are a performance class below the R-comps. Still excellent and much more streetable but will lack the ultimate grip of the Camaro's tires. I wouldn't doubt R-comps may be optional though.

EDIT 2: But, like many manufacturers such as Ferrari and Porsche do, the GT350's Super Sports are a custom design and compound just for the car. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but Tire Rack sells car-specific versions of many cars, mostly European go-fast cars, because the car and tire companies get together and make a special version for a particular model which isn't much stickier, never lasts nearly as long, and is about twice as expensive as the normal version of the tire.

EDIT 3: And of course the GT350, already a performance version, has a Track Pack available. Nice.

That's all fine & dandy, but this thing isn't costing $75,000. The Z/28 was a blank check for the engineers, this wasn't. I'm expecting it to cost $40-45K base which will put it just above a well loaded GT & under the current GT500 price tag. Fully loaded I imagine under/around $60K, again around the GT500.

It's a trait Ford's usually good at with keeping their models in line, price-wise until it gets to the dealership where the price climbs $5-15K for those, "Live by da Ferd, die by da Ferd" folks.

Wonder if Ford will make the GT350R..

Oh my.

I almost wonder if they will drop the GT500 and make a GT350R with GT500 specs.

Gosh that color just made the car look much better.

I feel like the GT350 is really a much closer tribute to the original car than the Z/28 is, or maybe i'm wrong.

Oh GOD. Looks like the car showing it's fangs.

I was a little off. But 8200rpm redline is certainly a big number for a 5.2 liter V8. First Mustang ever to have a 9 on the tach?

Edit: The Boss 302 did, which is a little silly considering it redlined at 7,000

Yup, I can see the new GT350 costing this much since it's taking the position of the Mustang lineup that the mighty Boss 302 originally had.

EDIT: Holy cow, that white GT350 looks amazing!

It might redline there but that doesn't mean it can't be pushed either the oldschool 5.0s were done at 4,000rpm but could rev to 6.

True, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I suspect that the new V8 will keep pulling.

Unfortunately this most likey will still be slapped by the Z/28 around a track. Although not true competitors, of course the big magazines are going to compare them side-by-side. Really unfortunate because the Z is much more track specialized with huge, sticky tires and carbon ceramics. I also assume this will come in much lower price wise than the Z/28.

Is it me or does the prototype we saw at the nurburgring had wider front splitter than the one being revealed ?

The GT350 will have an available Track Pack which will probably have many changes included.

Looks rather happy.

It's nice to see someone's still building M3s, even if BMW isn't. :D

While, realistically, forced induction really is the way to go for more performance... a manual-equipped, naturally aspirated car like this will be better for heavy track work.

Won't care if it's slower than the Z28 (whether because of tires or torque)... all I care about is whether I'll get a chance to drive one...

I don't get why people are obsessed to revving to a higher number even if the shift point is lower. Oooooh high numbers. Please, go ride a sport bike.
