But shoppers on a budget would most likely opt for the V6, which has comparable HP figures (300 vs ~305). What exactly makes the EcoBoost Mustang more expensive? Is it due to the 2.3L engine being a brand new engine?

A couple of things:

1. The V6 no longer receives a performance package like the previous 2010-2014 models
2. The V6 is mostly destined for rental fleets - it is as basic as basic gets, and in the process, managed to lose 5 BHP thanks to the redesigned intake for the lower hood
3. Marketing. The EcoBoost brand is starting to get noticed by "regular people," and subsequently, it will have a more premium status compared to the V6. Take a look at the F150s in the parking lot next time you're at the store and take note of what badges are on them
 
Maybe 80% of the newer generation F-150's I see on the road have EB badging on the sides.

What we've done with the front end styling? What?

All the things designers love to do? What?

The Mustang has already been designed. We know what the hood looks like. We know what the track width is. We know what the did with it.

So did they do something new with it? Did they redesign it, apparently substantially? Why are they talking about designing a car which as far as we know has already been designed?

Pretty sure this is the GT350 they are talking about, considering the reveal date of 11-17-14 basically coincides with the LA Auto show.

I know it's the GT350 they're talking about. That raises the question of why they're talking about it. The Mustang has already been designed and supposedly the GT350 is a high-po Mustang. Yet they're talking about designing its lower hood and wider track. Sounds to me like it might have a well-modified front end to it.

Yeah I don't get those parts but assume its just thowaway filler words until I see proof of a widened track or major body mods.

They saying that the "GT350" will have proportional change, lowered hood, widened front track and enhanced the performance from the "Mustang".

That doesn't mean that it have a look like a V6/EcoBoost/GT Mustang.
It could still look like a Mustang but with a more aggressive look.
 
So probably like how the 1968 mustang gt and 1968 shelbys looked a bit different even though its basically the same car ?
 
Should we sing an ode farewell to the GT500 since I don't see it coming back or having a reason to?
 
I'm still hoping it would come back to challenge the Hellcat.

I'm still curious about the low hood thing. Typically the only thing that changes is the fascia, not the actual shape of the car. They're making it sound as if the front structure of the car is actually different. Maybe pointier or more aerodynamic?
 
Maybe a lower engine placement or a dry sump allowing the engine to sit lower in the car, thus enabling a lower hood.

No it wouldn't. The "plane" only affects the spacing of the pistons, or the connecting rod journals to be specific, around the crank shaft, not the overall dimensions. Flat-plane piston spacing means that pistons are mounted directly across from each other so that two fire at the same time instead of one at a time like most American V8s.

So is the release of both Gymkhana 7 (featuring a crazy first gen Mustang) and the GT350 on the same day merely a coincidence, or is this some sort of large event that Ford is sponsoring? Gymkhana 7 is shot in Los Angeles...the GT350 will be at the LA Autoshow....Mustangs....

On the other hand, the two events could be obviously linked and I just missed something along the way.
 
I was in Phoenix yesterday running some errands so I stopped by a Ford dealer to see what they had. Funny how the salesmen are so eager to greet you but when you tell them you are not buying right now they have no interest in hanging around to answer your questions. They didn't have an Ecoboost anyway, so I didn't spend much time there.

Edit: Speaking of Ecoboost...

 
And that is going to make many GT owners pissed.. :lol: 4 banger running similar times or faster than the V8..

Eh, I'd say those two were the only crazy mods. Everything else was pretty straight forward.
