Thursday Press Conference

Not to sound extremely negative but am I the only one that cringed at the fact that the man for the Tennessee Tribune felt the need to point out that it was a "Very small Black publication"? And then the question itself was just...wut? It doesn't surprise me that the drivers had a hard time answering that. Personally speaking, I found F1 appealing the way it was BEFORE Lewis came along so it just comes off as silly to me when he asks "How to appeal to urban kids".

Apart from that, some funny moments from that conference. I lost it at Daniel Ricciardo's joke and then when that one man asks about removing some tech from the F1 cars and (David Croft? IDK) goes "Kimi, That's a great question for you"

Also, I wasn't expecting Greg Creamer to be there (sounds like he's also now got a gig for COTA in edition to being a commentator for NBC).

It depends, wet weather normally limits practice running when the race conditions aren't expected to be the same. In this case I understand that they are expected to be the same... so the teams get some benefit out of the risk.

Not if it floods or leaves pools of water, hence why I made the comment at all.

Nope as someone that is half black, I too cringed cause in the U.S. it always seems some group has to bring race into it. I'm sure if Sergio was there and mexican-american news organizations caught wind they'd have that person out there asking how he is trying to make it exciting for the mexican urban youth. Just how the U.S. is at times and it makes me cringe both ways, since I'm half black and half mexican.

If the guy wouldn't have put the awkward race angle on it, and just made the question about American youth in general, it's actually not that bad of a question.

I liked Lewis's take on getting more people exposed karting, although it's probably a little unrealistic if I'm honest

I like it, surprised though. Hopefully they can get past McLaren, shouldn't be too hard. They do have a proper F1 engine afterall. :p

They've been off the pace from even McLaren all year. They have a spec 14 engine which was decent but not nearly as good as the 2015 version. And the aero package is always going to be weaker than McLaren. Maybe if Mc-honda retain this form next year after Marussia join up with Merc and do the tech alliance.

The token trading system enables the teams to redesign 88% of an engine in a season, and it's staying in place for 2016. Given that McLaren and Honda know what the issues with the engine are, I would be very surprised if they don't make progress next year - especially after their form in Sochi.

That's why I said maybe, since as you've seen my post on the tech thread I dont believe they'll actually retain this form, but how good they are next year is still very much up in the air. Basically you're commenting on a superficial hypothetical future, that was in jest with @catamount39

McLaren have put some red flowvis paint on Button's front wing endplate, and it actually looks cool. Can McLaren paint they're endplates red for the rest of the season/
