What about Sebring, or even Daytona?

Daytona won work with the banking section and how the cars are designed. Sebring I'm not sure of, I mean the first second might be tough considering how bumpy it is. I feel if they could make Glen, Road Atlanta, Mid Ohio or Road America, into F1 facilities they'd be great for racing...but then comes the finance of it all.

Best case sceniaro would be if they just make a new track.

The only tracks close enough to be upgraded to F1 standard would be ruined in the process.

That or a street track, but street tracks have to be like Valencia or Sochi as Monaco is the exception so reality is that Vegas is probably the only option.

Apparently someone let Brundle loose in the W06.
Considering he's already had a go in the VJM08 it would be nice to maybe hear just how big the difference is between Mercedes and the rest of the pack.

Edit:
Also a nice closeup of Nico's steering wheel.

I in the minority, would love to see F1 back at Indianapolis, the re-modeled road course there has produced some amazing racing for Indycar. The only thing holding them back is probably the George dynasty.

I think Laguna Seca would produce some of the worst racing on the F1 calendar, the best and probably only place to overtake will be going into T1 and it might be hard for a driver to get on the back of another through the final sector.

For an American race to be a success it needs to use about 90% of an oval track to ensure there are plenty of overtakes with a little infield section connecting each end, get Bernie on the phone.

I think @mustafur is right...because F1 cars have so many requirements now, any track in the U.S. would need a serious redesign, and most of the tracks we think of, I think most people would not like to see them Tilkefied. The only exceptions would be COTA obviously, and Indy which I sort of forgot.

Ideally, it would be great to see a brand new top grade track build somewhere out east...maybe between New York and DC somewhere...but who's going to build that??

💡 Trump??? They did say he would be in Austin with Flávio Briatore  If Trump build a track, it would look like his face, complete with hair!

Sorry, had to.

It would certainly look like something of his that has hair. I hope. Although isn't the more-pressing concern the way we have somehow ended up discussing Donald Trump's penis?

Besides, it can't happen. I've already patented the name "Freedom Eagle Jesus Thunder Raceway". It could be called "FEJT" - pronounced "fête" - but that sounds suspiciously foreign.

He would build the track running along the top of his Mexico border wall

:indiff:, annoyed that the BBC don't have the live rights to this race especially as the weather looks promising.

Okay, can we all get the LEWIS HAMILTON WORLD CHAMPION and LEWIS HAMILTON BETTER THAN JESUS and LEWIS HAMILTON THE BLACK SENNA out of our systems?

Laguna Seca is a great track. For sports car racing. I think it would prove to be a snore fest for F1 cars. And they're having enough problems as it is with the locals trying to shut the track down permenantly. They've been walking a tightrope for years just to stay open.

Sonoma is interesting, close to San Francisco, in the heart of 'wine country', but it's a small, tight facility that causes a traffic nightmare for miles in every direction during big events. But I think there's a better chance here than anywhere else. (At least of current tracks)

Watkins Glen actually has sufficient run off area (except for the Esses, but not much you can do, it's the nature of the track). They have made some improvements (the new media center is quite nice) and the tack is finally being repaved after more than 2 decades. But in general, the entire place needs a facelift and it's a bit run down. That's not likely to happen. Who's going to pay for it? The Glen has been flirting with bankruptcy for years (2+ decades actually) and there's no way they could afford to host an F1 race without a major title sponsor or unless Bernie bankrolls it himself. And the problem with the Glen is that it's in the middle of bloody nowhere. Back in the day, when F1 racing was more of a grassroots sport instead of an event in which to BE seen for the wealthy, people drove to the Glen, camped out in tents or in their cars. Those days are gone. And I doubt 10,000 guests and sponsors are going to commute back to the Hampton Inn down in Horseheads or Elmira NY, or spend the night in a dingy room in the Falls Motel with decor straight from 1977.

And unfortunately, that being the case, we could also forget about VIR (also a great track--probably one of the best in the US), as is Road America. As they're both out in the boondocks too. As much as I would love to see it happen, it won't. None of those facilities can host 80,000+ people outside of general admission. And none of them have the money to upgrade. And no title sponsor is going to pay for it at a track that's 2 hours drive from anything.

No one was. You're the one who brought it up.

No one has mentioned any of that.

Someone go on about Hamilton, or Sky's coverage, so PM can be annoyed. :odd:

You just know that it's a matter of time before Ted Kravitz says it. Weren't you watching in Singapore? Everyone was standing around wanting to say MATCHES SENNA'S STATS!, but no-one wanted to be the first to say it. It was the same in Sochi; they wanted to say WORLD CHAMPION GET IN THERE!!, but they didn't want to be that guy.
