I don't quite believe it was anything Ford happened to come up with. What change of diffuser regulations occurred to allow those is what I wonder about. Not like it's anything new either with Time Attack and Super GT being really out there with their aero.
Ford asked for the rules to be changed to allow diffusers like that.

I stand corrected it appears! I was sure I saw another team utilizing long before the GT was ever a thing, but I didn't want to be wrong on that too. :p Ah well.

It's one of the good things with WEC imo.

The manufactures have a say in the rules and in some cases help make them aswell.

Kinda like F1 but people actually like each other in WEC and agree on things which is why it works.

No offense, but how exactly is that different from the Citroen WTCC case (getting series organisers to change rules for your car)? Curious.

It has so many cup holders but only one seat... is probably what my sister would say.
Any lap time comparisons from last year?

Talk about a Pyhrric victory... If anything, all it proves is that the TS040 can only beat its rival through film animation that speaks about how efficient the car is. Hardly something that will sell cars...

Well to be fair, they are in a better position for even a hint of that as opposed to The parent company of Porsche and Audi.

Indeed, I forgot about that. The Toyota does have a better chance of winning the Michelin prize for efficency next year in Le Mans than the VAG Bros. do.

No great loss, they were only a field filler.
I know but dropping them for LMP3's is a depressing thought. As much as I love the Nissan V8, the cars aren't that great (aside from the Ligier and now dropped Ginetta). Unless GTE see's an increase in entries, the ELMS loses a lot of zing for me personally. Now, that aside, some people will love it so, to each his own. I'm more of a GT fan than an LMP (LMP1 is Godly though) fan so I guess I'm just salty. :p

The ACO's decision to start a GT3 series is questionable, however; Blancpain, VLN and the ADAC GT Masters seem like great series', no need for another. No need for it. Besides there are also all the "lower level" championships too. Kinda pointless really.

La Sarthe as a selling point will make it incredibly attractive, though. Its the biggest track that the GT3 formula doesnt currently race on and its notnlikely that the ACO would let another organizing body step in to run the show, but its also difficult to have it be a 1 hour one-off event, so ta-da, we get another GT3 series.

It also offers a different formula to most current GT3 series, with the 2 hour races and gold drivers. Would be attractive to those teams and Am's who dont have the budget for BES but want greater diversity than VLN.

The new Audi R18.

It'll still have a diesel engine and 6mJ of battery power. They'll use 2 cars at Le Mans, same as Porsche. #DieselGate

Just two? ~surprised face~

EDIT: 2 Porsche 919's only as well, rumours of Toyota with 3 though...

With their reliability it's not wrong to see why, Porsche's confusing though. Toyota needs the 3rd car because it might not be jinxed like the other 2. :p

At a first glance its horrid but when you start to think how the air flows over the car it turns in to a sexy beast!
