A question: Putting obvious loyalties aside, are there any teams or groups you have absolute respect for in the current world of sportscar racing? I am an Aston Martin man through and through but to me Corvette Racing, despite having been for 10 years almost the major rivals to AMR are the most impressive team I have ever watched. Especially in the GT1 days, and early GT2/E. They turn up every year, the only race they have in Europe, and just hammer down and get on with it. The cars are always built so reliable, not so much tough but reliable - when do you ever hear of a works Corvette breaking down? - and the team are like the GT version of Audi with being able to fix cars and assist others - see the miracle job on the Larbre C7R at Le Mans this year. And they are always such good sports and clean hard racers about it. 👍

PS @LMSCorvetteGT2 you can like this 1000x times :p

I'm trying but it keeps taking the first like away from you...what the hell is up with that.

Knew I'd seen the front design before.

Reverse the top RB wing and wrap that around the front nose and it's quite a similar design imo.

I know that LMPs have function over form in mind, but holy cow that car is not a looker. I'm quite curious about the aero, since those front fenders seem to be sticking out in front of the car.

Yeah I thought that too, I'm not sure if it's an illusion but it looks like the top over hangs

That has to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.....................................................

Audi have managed to take the R18 from an already ugly car, and have made it even uglier every year. The 2005 R8 is still the best looking. R15, R15+, and R15++ really doesn't look all that bad in comparison to the R18's.

Priaulx has left BMW after 13 years to join Ford in the WEC.

The way I understand the 2016 ELMS so far Eurasaia, SO24! By Lombard Racing, Graves Motorsport, DragonSpeed, DC Racing, BR Engineering and Tech 1 Racing are all penciled in for the LMP2 class. DagonSpeed and Eurasia running witht he ORECA 05-Nissan and SO24! by Lombard Racing, DC Racing and Tech1 with the Ligier JS P2. BR Engineering have the BR01-Nissan. Eurasia have back Nick de Brujin, Lombard Racing have Vincent Capilliere and Olivier Lombard, DragonSpeed will run Henrik Hendman and Frankie Monteclavo and BR once again will have Nic Minassian, Mikael Aleshin and David Marksov.

In the LMP3 class SO24! by Lombard have so far Thomas Dagoneau. United Autosports have Alex Brundle. Ultimate Racing have brothers Matthieu and Jean-Baptiste Lahaye and Fancois Heriau and Speed Factory will have Javier Ibran, Mathijas Bakker and Toni Castillo. DC Racing are yet to announce their drivers. All will have the Ligier JS P3.

Given that there doesn't seem to be any hope of JPM getting a Porsche drive at all, at least this will give me a reason to follow the WEC properly.

And Mazda need to stop playing and bring that LM55 to the track.

The only problem is that Mazda lacks a racing rotary engine with the proper levels of performance required for LMP cars... That tragic Diesel unit used in America is clearly not such a thing, and the MZR is growing older with each passing race it does, so that won't do. The design only needs a few tweaks to respect regulations, so the LM55 is good enough in that aspect to avoid further complications...

The SkyActiv 2.5T may have something to offer. Don't know how much i-eloop would help that engine in race configuration though.

If we were thinking about LMP1 configurations, it would need a major boost just to keep up with Essence cars, much less LMP1-H ones. The i-eloop system would need to be coupled with a far more powerful electrical componente if the 2.5T had to compete with cars of similar performance. However, if we are thinking about LMP2 and/or LMP3 specifications, it is easier to implement such an engine as those classes do not have a big focus on hybrid drivetrains, but the engine itself would still need a large power boost (over 100 or so horsepower) if Mazda wanted to use it for that purpose...

I always liked the aggression look on R15+ and R15++ more than the R8s overal appearance and the R18s weren't to bad but them being closed cockpit is huge downgrade in the looks department.

Though the Audi R15 is the absolute worst Audi LMP IMO.

Rules dont allow Rotary engines any longer. Must be a piston engine in lmp1.

Speaking of lmp1, Nissan is back at NOLA testing. Check the new updated front fenders and splitter-

Eyes deceiving me or is that a hole in the fin?

Not sure how big the GT-R's engine cover is, but I don't think it's on in that pic. Most of the fin is missing.
Not an engine cover, but a suspension or hybrid cover.

I love those brake ducts, they make the front look so good.
