When one manufacturer leaves, theres always more waiting to join. We even hear of Peugeot setting conditions for their return. Ford will return. (Riley) Viper is waiting for the first team to drop so they can race. Theres talk of McLaren wanting to return. So what if lmp1 is all manufacturers? It doesnt mean the other classes are going to start dropping in number. Theres always someone ready to jump in. They limit the grid for various reasons. Safety being one. Driver ability, team stability etc.

I personally think that everyone who submits an entry should be allowed in. I think capping a race at a track that's 8.5 miles long to 56 cars is stupid. That's my honest opinion. They have plenty of room for the extra space.
But only 56 garages at this point. I agree though, make a bigger pitlane and let them all in!

They have the room. They use multiple safety cars now in the race. Have a second pit lane. There's plenty of room for it

Where would you put it? I don't see a proper place other than an extension as opposed to another pit lane. You're talking about something like Spa right?

That takes a lot of time and money. Extending the pits is enough for the time being.
For now, it's fine. They have the money. It's just a matter of logistics which is complicated

If it takes another, separate pit lane, there's a very very long straight with a couple chicanes that has a lot of room. Ford Chicane needs a re-design too which I think I heard or read somewhere that it is? Room to add there also.

I had a feeling you were going to mention those two locations. Don't ruin the Muslanne! :p Ford chicane would indeed be the best location but that means you'll also have to tear up the Bugatti Circuit, right?

There's the straight before Indianapolis and before the Porsche curves too if the Bugatti circuit and Mulsanne cannot be used.

Two separate pit lanes would be a logistics nightmare and it would divide the field on unequal terms.

The 4 extra garages are more than fine for now.
They could move the whole pit stop and garage area to a different spot. That would be a radical change that would never happen for the sake of tradition but that's probably the best way to do it

I imagine if they needed to, they could extend the (would be curving) pit lane all the way to the Dunlop Chicane and have the pit lane exit extend around the chicane runoff, but I really don't think that'll be necessary in the remotely near future. They're moving towards 60 garages because that is all that is justified and not more for now.

I agree, making the exit 100M closer to Dunlop Chicane wont disrupt the flow much.

That would be another solution. I would make pit out after the Dunlop Chicane though

@LMSCorvetteGT2 click this

You won't regret it as we all know he doesn't know anything. I haven't regreted it. :)

Oh you, I wish I could bring myself to do that, but I hate that feature. Selfishly (yes sadly) I see it as a cop out to avoid negotiating around the ignorant or naive parts that middle ground people have to read, and people with knowledge (you and I and plenty others) can denounce and set straight. Then again I did say I was selfish, so I think you're point has won me over.

*I'M FREE!!!

**I was serious about doing it by the way.

It's funny when you look at the posts then see what looks like people arguing with themselves then you realise the person they are replying to you've ignored them

I've only put one person on ignore before, and it was that greenhorn guy from the 2013 F1 season, the crazy Vettel hater if you recall. But yeah I remember what you're talking about, it will take time to get use to this.

Then again I usually just come here to see you guys update with useful info and then I only jump in when stupid things are said.

10 P2 cars in the WEC this season. Not sure why P2 is being called a dying class.

Oh and these look gorgeous

I guess someone misunderstood "10 LMP2 cars in WEC and god knows how many in Le Mans" as a justification to say "LMP2 is dying as we speak". Doesn't really make sense, especially when LMP2 is currently one of the most contested categories in the Endurance world, but there you go.

Also, good job G-Drive, that livery of yours looks really neat. Man, LMP2 is also delivering in the livery department, they're just ticking all the right boxes...

Someone needs to get the memo that there are 36 WEC places and roughly there's a near 33% split across all 3. And last year the WEC guys got destroyed at LM by the ELMS runners

Oh well, guess no one is paying attention to ELMS, so they forget that teams also do racing there. And pretty good racing, may I add. And look at how many LMP2 brands we have; Oreca, Ligier, Morgan. We even have Dome back in LMP2, for god's sake!

And HPD. Oops ACO, that is 5 brands already...

ACO: Nope, that's not good enough, unify the regulations. We need more brands, so one single car for all of them should be enticing.

(Note: A single car that isn't really made by any of the brands actually means jacks:censored:, and other than even performance, it won't much for LMP2 either. It'll just become a scaled up LMP3...)

4 manufacturers for lmp2's. Oreca is the main one, and I think we can make a 'French connection' to them being the first choice. At least tires are free.

My prediction for the 4 chassis are Oreca, Ligier, Dallara, and Multimatic(Lola)/Riley because one is going to be from NA

Sadly, I was also Predicting Ligier to be another (because le France). Not sure about Dallara though, I don't think they even make anything current outside the DP. Can't see HPD because they can't even fix their P2 car yet.

Do you guys think that there will be a P4 (LMP4) class in the future? the GT's got such a thing (LMGT1, GT2/GTE, GT3 and GT4). Or will it replace the CN class (you know cars such as the Radical)?

And what is the future of the LMP1 class? Only one series uses it (WEC) and they are highly expensive. I'm fearing it will suffer like the GT1 class :(

And in the future, are all existing protoypes (P1, P2, P3) going to have a closed top?

And PC (Prototype Challenge)? It´s going to get laid off with LMP3's.

Oh ****, this all too confusing!

I think LMP3 is already the smallest prototype class you could make.
