So when will we expect to see the car back out and racing?

We’ll come back when we are ready to show the performance of the car as it was intended to be shown. The focus today is on testing and development and when we are ready we’ll come back to the WEC.

If the absence from the WEC stretches towards, or right to, the end of 2015 will we get to the stage where you are concerned about corporate commitment?

No, the release is clear about commitment and increased effort, in particular on the engineering side getting this right and the Corporation will follow. That’s the sensible track to take and the correct order of priorities

At this point I think they should take as long as they need to get it working properly.
 
It's so funny because when the car was revealed, Darren Cox said that he demanded Nismo guys to came up with something different than Audi, since he believed that by copying them, Nissan wouldn't be succesful.

Which Porsche did and it won Le Mans by doing so.

Maybe they shouldn't have commit to race the car this year. They were very optmistic about something which was never tried and have everything to go wrong.
 
Where do we reckon Nissan sit in terms of budget compared to Porsche/Audi/Toyota and what Aston has with the AMR-One?

It's not "funny". The car that ran at Le Mans is not the car they designed. Nissan know they don't have the budget or resources of Audi or Porsche - they know that if they copy them, they'll just end up with a slightly less polished version of a VAG P1. In order to really shake up the standings, they needed to go for something radical.
 
That kind of sounds like what the DSC article referenced - they will aim to race, but if they don't see a reason to, they won't.

I only read the 3 before it. :D and its still withdrawn even if its temporary.
 
I still find it hilarious that people seem to think that an LMP car can be competitive up against established competition even with the litany of well-documented troubles that the car has had.

He is one of their development drivers and has experience racing for AMR in WEC (Replacing Roald Goethe in 2013), he has also been the top driver in British GT (along with Sims) for a while now which does no harm to his reputation.

Besides you didn't say no which means it's a definite yes :lol:

Porsche weren't established before last year and won this year after problems last year. So you're wrong.
 
And Nissan weren't established last year, but for some reason, people seemed to expect that they could be competitive straight away, unlike Porsche.
 
depends on how one defines competitive. I think most followers of the Nissan program were realistic it wasnt going to be anywhere near competing for the win but at the same time I think a good number of people thought/hoped it would be maybe at a benchmark where it was slightly off the Toyota pace first year and then move up from there

They were also using a proven configuration.

Hard to do that with only half the power/drive as originally designed.

I find it completely relevant. If Nissan had come in running the tried and true mid engine setup that others debuted and currently run with, I'm sure things would be much different.

What I wrote had nothing to do with Nissan, prisonermonkeys said Porsche were uncompetitive on their debut and I disagreed.

As far as I'm concerned Nissan haven't actually made their debut yet, they entered a Micra LM Nismo at Le Mans but that isn't their race car.

I wouldn't really say that as they were leading Le Mans with 3 hours to go and won the last race when Webber had an identity crisis and thought he was piquet jr.

I edited my post, I was arguing against the idea that Porsche were uncompetitive, at Spa they qualified on pole then ran away Buemi style in the opening laps.
