That was before the P2 rules prohibited manufacturers, Ironically that's what's responsible for current regs.

Roger Penske on the phone to Stuttgart, "just done the Sebring test, we aren't beating Audi"
Few weeks later, "we still aren't beating Audi"
Time passes, "we almost beat Audi"
More time passes, Stuttgart calls, "congratulations you beat Audi," "yeah but we should have been beating Audi from the start!"

You cant buy a car that is not really for sale. If you could why would you? Good luck getting any spare parts from one of those small constructors.

I'd say you'd be able to tell the difference thanks to that weird gap between the C-pillars and the rear quarter panels.

Yeah this car looks nothing like the existing GTE cars...heck it looks like a...a GT1 car! 💡 :eek: :drool:
 
Looks neat. Thing has mad diffuser though. Differently an interesting first look at the 2016 GTE regulations, I'm expecting GTE to look a lot like GT1 next year of this car is anything to go by.

But, one question: Where's the mirrors? :confused:

An aforementioned member on this page said BR and SMP have no desire of building LMP2 cars for other customers.

Well egg on that person's face, then. So much for BR/SMP not building customer cars, eh? And here's the current list of interested brands for the new LMP2 regulations, at the time of this news article:

  • BR Engineering;
  • Onroak Automotive;
  • ORECA;
  • Dallara;
  • Riley Technologies;
  • Ginetta;
  • Gibson;
  • Wolf.
But I am curious about the part when it was said that the BR01 "was the only true LMP2" car... What are the basis for such a statement?

I believe Wolf are not interested any more. Haven't heard from Dallara. Tbh though, Onroak, ORECA and Riley are shoe-ins...

Huh, is that so. The French manufactures are bound to be in regardless, since the interest is strong in that area... I would be interested to see what would Riley come up with for these new regulations. Ginetta and Gibson would also be interested enough to join, I reckon.

And about something I read on that article; why did BR's representative claim that the BR01 is the "only true LMP2 car"? I wonder what are the basis for such a statement...
 
I'm wondering, hoping really, if Ford's decision to contest the WEC might tip Corvette in the same direction . . .

Plausible?
 
It's a shame to see that some of the current LMP2 manufactures are going have to give up on P2 because they are being kicked out. Gibson will leave and wolf won't even have a chance after spending so much money already.

How ever, I have heard that Nissan will be selling an upgrade kit for the GTR so it can race in the LMP1 category! :lol:
