It is a 5 year period for homologation isn't it? With 7 maximum?
It can vary although article says it's being increased to 3 years which would make me think it would be less than that and this year was the 4th year? With next year being the 5th?

Only the GT3R appears on the FIA homologation list.

Not surprised by that.
I wouldn't expect anyone to be, pretty sure this has been known for some months now.
I would say if it is a different incarnation then we can class it as never returning.
However I am not surprised that the Nissan hater jumped right on this to make himself feel better by spouting off more drivel. In any case if you had actually read the article you would have seen:

"Multiple changes have been made to the car since Le Mans but the original design principles remain."

1: It was not official but a badly kept secret.
2: Changes can be made and you can have original designs, but the car can be totally different.

Got to admit I fail to see the Nissan hate. It's a genuine attempt at different engineering. These things either work or don't, fact.

I'm pretty sure it was announced that they would not compete for the rest of 2015 and would return in 2016. So this new article is not news except for the personel changes.

The original layout and overall shape of the body are the same, I wouldn't call that totally different.

It's quite obvious really.

Technically then I can then say that this and this are the same?

It should be. The GT3R just got

It's first race was 2012 in the American Le Mans Series so 5 years would mean 2017.
Thought I might have been slightly off on my years.

Thought this Nissan fanboi's were being abit quiet over the latest news then I realised they're all on my ignore list

Yet you still read the posts to get your jollies off.

And out of pure curiosity, honestly what do you dislike so much about the Nissan?

When they get the hybrid system fixed, the front brakes upgraded, and the other bugs sorted out, then I'll judge the car. It's first outing made it *look* worse than the AMR-One, but the car was neutered by only using it's 500hp(?) petrol engine, in a class with 900-1000hp cars (not to mention Le Mans rookie drivers). It was basically running P2 specs, and only using the front brakes basically because of the lack of the hybrid system. Next year will be the true year we figure out what the design is capable of or at least get a grasp at if it is worth while.

Looking back maybe going to Le Mans was worth the embarrassment. It gave the team a kick in the rear in the right direction possibly.

For all the Nissan trash-talkers and nay-sayers http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=3b7e85c6366c81b77d50b7b35&id=6f917df40b

Theyve added personnel, a new team principal and have found something like 3-4 seconds per lap (1:55's at COTA according to Graham Goodwin). Theres no reason to assume theyre winding the program down with all this information being released.

Whats very good to hear is their pace is improvement is "all car". No new tires, no new hybrid system. So with that in mind theyre looking a lot closer to where they need to be. Keep in mind that 1:55's at COTA is near Rebellion and CLM pace. But the Nissan is 870kg vs 850kg for the lmp1-L teams, it runs in the "2mj class" so has a lot less fuel flow to use for power.

Can't speak for him, but I've got nothing against the car itself. It's how Nissan/Nismo has treated the whole thing, using it more as a marketing tool than an actual racing program has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I hope that they finally decide to take it seriously, but I won't be surprised if it never shows up again either.

No there were articles released and I believe a tweet on this thread showing that nissan would try to make an attempt at COTA and series Final

It won't it's not a GTE spec car.

Doesn't mean they wont try to get it done and have a billions waivers like the Viper.

Considering they didn't even bother with the Z4, I can't see them suddenly changing course with the M6.

True, but this car seems to be the more true successor to the M3 that preceded the Z4. And perhaps trying to swing the Z4 was too tall a task, compared to this. But we'll see. It just strikes me odd that a group that has competed in several 24h events would just all of a sudden not want to...yet participate in a class that is raced by many for that specific reason. I feel they could save money just going to GT-D with the M6

In the case of the Reynard/DBA/Creation/Zytek/Gibson (ohgawdwhysomanynames ), Its in a rather funky position of "Sorta" given the different rule sets yet it pretty much does retain a lot of the original design (Even with the Le Mans Bug-eyed bodywork)

The Courage/Courage-Pescarolo/Pescarolo/Onroak-Pescarolo/Morgan-Pescarolo (Did I mention Pescarolo at all By any chance?) however, its more or less morphed to the point where only maybe one or two things is retained in the 01 from the original De Cortanze C60 redesign, which by way is the incorrect image to use when THIS is where it all started:

So to answer that in short: NOPE ;)
