GTE are cars built to the ACO GT regulations while GT3 are cars built to the FIA GT Regulations. GTD are essentially reduced GT3 cars to keep them separate from the GTE cars. This will no longer be the case in 2016 now that GTE cars have been given abit more power and downforce, allowing the GTD class to use the FIA's GT regulations and specs.

Which was what originally was the idea to have a wider more powerful GT3 car that could be somewhat experimental or rather updated throughout the year.
 
Porsche, Aston Martin and Corvette have all been given Balance of Performance adjustments ahead of next weekend’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Fuji.

Following back-to-back class wins, the GTE-Pro class Porsche 911 RSRs have been given a 5 kg weight increase, cutting its initial post-Le Mans 10 kg weight break in half.

Both GTE-Pro and GTE-Am class Aston Martin Vantage V8s, meanwhile, will benefit from a 0.2 mm larger air restrictor, following an initial 0.5 mm reduction made prior to the Nurburgring.

The GTE-Am class Corvette C7.R has also undergone a change, but this time given a 20 kg weight break, as Larbre Competition searches for its first class podium finish of the season in Japan.

Good to see eurosport are broadcasting the entire race again, too many adverts and poor picture quality on motors tv. Shame that too many race s next season clash with f1, especially le mans ! This shouldn't be allowed to happen

Who would whatch F1 over WEC anyway? To me it doesn't matter much as I don't whatch F1. Does it actually matter to anyone on this thread?
 
I like watching both, so I'm disappointed about the clash :(

Guess I'll just have to set up some multi monitor action (with my phone being one of the "monitors" :lol:)
 
A clash in scheduling eh? I'll take WEC over F1 easily. I'll just record the F1 race and go back to it. I love both F1 and the WEC, but I love the WEC more. :P

That's basically what I do when a busy race weekend comes along. My TV is one Screen, my HP Laptop is another and my tablet is another (if there is three races on at once, otherwise it becomes the Scrolling Ticker for one of the races).
 
I'm willing to buy the 10€ FIA/ACO livestream for the Le Mans next year, FOX was more horrific than usual.





Edit: spelling...it's one of those days I guess. :P

My only real gripes about the stream this year were the lack of on demand replays and the lack of viewing options as far as onboard cameras and stationary cameras around the track. If they address the first issue I will certainly go for the full season as Fox is about as useful as a radio broadcast when it comes to racing.
 
Good to know that Dome isn't leaving the LMP world entirely, I had written them off after the whole "new LMP2 regulations" debacle which ended the (short) career of the S103. While being a LMP3 car means it'll be driven by some lesser-talented drivers, at least it can keep the cash flowing into the brand's accounts. Still don't know where this will leave Dome's relationship with Strakka Racing at, but we have to wait and see...

Also, the V8 is pretty much a standard-issue equipment for all LMP3 chassis, so that is not entirely surprising. The engine is a good unit, however.

Edit: Oh, and apparently there is something about what happened to the design of the S103, which I overlooked and is featured in catamount's link;

Strakka had already taken control of the intellectual property rights to the design when it opted to cancel the project after this year's Le Mans 24 Hours.

So in essence, the S102's design is now fully owned by Strakka themselves, meaning that their future LMP1 car is likely to take after the now ex-Dome LMP1 project.

Well I know it's a spec engine, but by God Nissan can make a thundering V8. :drool:

Can't argue with that, there has to be a reason (or two) to explain its sheer popularity in the LMP2 class after all. Many things can be argued about their botched LMP1 effort last year, but when it comes to LMP2, Nissan has a much cleaner rapsheet.

I'm surprised that you did not notice that in the article at first. But yes, it practically means that Strakka will be the sole responsible for whichever modifications are done to the S102 design in the future, or even creating an entire new design based on the original design layout.

I did that last year, it's a great deal. I can't wait to see the new Ford GT in action so I am buying the whole season next year! Now if we could just get United Sportscars here in the states to give us that option we wouldn't have to deal with Fox at all 👍
 
I hope the Multimatic scheme looks better than the CGR paint scheme. I'd like either black or midnight blue with those white racing stripes. :drool:
