I don't believe any AM teams are permitted to run the 488 as it will be too new. Same issue Larbre had with the C7.R.

Isn't Larbre possibly becoming a Pro team next year?
That's what they are wanting I hope Poulsen goes back to AMR.

Rees seems really disheartened almost as if he wasn't staying with AMR next year, I hope he is. I know 2 people that are testing the 2016 car tomorrow so some digging to be done.

I think that move was tied to the Taylor's but since they are now running with the factory team at Le Mans who knows now.

WEC GTE car models
'16- Pro-old/new Am old
'17- Pro-new Am old/new
'18 all new only

New cars arent allowed in the ELMS/AsLMS until '17

Nothing new there then.

Just let them throw money into all the other racing endeavors that no one cares nearly as much about, and seems just as expensive. The Dakar running for example isn't cheap and yet they spend the money, and for what? I don't see anything used in it that comes back to the road going end like the Sports cars did. Plus you spend about as much money maybe a bit more than you did to do the Dakar program and the year you challenged for Pikes title and you run in a series that last longer over a year.

Well they came into WTCC forced a rule change so they could enter thier car (they built the car before the rules were changed) which put massive cost on the other solely "private" teams now they are taking thier toys away.

At least the ACO has the backbone to stand up for themselves one of the reasons why I like them.

Exactly. If they're going to make demands to help them get in, they don't care enough to work hard enough to try.

We've got Audi, Porsche, Toyota and Nissan. Don't need Peugeot screwing things up.

I wish IMSA had said backbone....

Over reaction much?

1) They need to make sure the company is financially sound.
2) They need to see cost control measures in place.
3) They need time to get ready (i.e. stability of regulations during the development phase)

Seems perfectly reasonable and sensible to me. Blindy pissing away hundreds of millions of Euros for the sake of saying you're in the WEC is moronic. If that's at odds with a governing body then so be it, it doesn't happen, and nobody has lost anything.

I don't really understand the weight of those requirements, but the more manufacturers the better. I welcome any and all who throw their hat in. It would be great to see Peugeot return.

You mean almost as bad as a WRC and WTCC project then when no one watches them ;)

Peugeot has clearly shown they almost never have long term goals and don't really give a whole lot of effort now days. We don't need them barging in making demands for a series to change, especially when that series has nailed down the formula for the best racing on the planet and has an almost unrestricted class (LMP1).

It's up to them, it's their money. If they see enough value in them to justify the expense then fine - they've enjoyed plenty of success.

I'm only going off the link Furi posted, but I do not see them "barging in", or making demands for change?

Well, asking for change seemed to work for Toyota, still without a LM24 win...

Yeah but at that point, things weren't all that brilliant. Audi was the last factory team left in LMP1, and things were being laid out (the changes they asked for helped things along actually). Now we have a perfected championship, the best in the world. Between LMGTE and LMP1 things are insane (LMP2 being the only **** up thanks to the FIA). The WEC doesn't need Peugeot, it's not starving for manufactures. Peugeot is a whiny company who never stays anywhere long. They're a liability and not an asset.

At this point I agree, but at the same time, the rules and costs need a going over every few years to establish a direction and solid foundation to continue to build a few for the growth of the sport, cost cutting is something that will need to be looked at, make the sport cheaper for both manufactures and private teams, I know that isn't something that needs amending right now, but still making things cheaper only benefits everyone,

Perhaps you could link to that, because like I say, I don't see that in the article linked above.
“The second condition is having, at the level of the World Endurance Championship, a control on the regulations that results in a cost control that makes this sport and this practice reasonable.

you even stated it yourself here
2) They need to see cost control measures in place.
