Alonso's Mclaren sounds like it hits the limiter on every straight.

Perez fastest in a straight line...

Thought the aerial shot of the old circuit layout was awesome, quickly rewound the broadcast and recorded it.

That was a bit silly, stealing video isn't a great idea ;)

I noticed in the tile of the video that it was from the current session so I rewound my stream - it is at 50:20 to go in FP2 if anyone has a rewindable stream of their own.

The gap has now shrunk from 1,6 in FP1, to 0,7 in FP2, so almost a full second has been chopped off.
For some reason Ferrari runs with quite a lot of angle on the rear wing. Looks like they're struggling to find a stable low downforce setup. If they can find that balance for qualifying tomorrow, I think they can get even closer.

But all in all Mercedes has a massive advantage.

Is it just me or do the STR's seem really unstable in their ultra-low downforce configuration? The two big spins aside their cars just seemed really nervous under braking today.

Verstappen, Merhi, Stevens, Alonso and Button all out in Q1.

Verstappen didn't get a flying lap in due to an engine change, and when he did take to the track at the very end of Q1, his engine cover flew off.

Ricciardo, Kyvat, Sainz, Nasr and Maldonado all out in Q2.

Ricciardo did not complete a single lap.

Lewis likes being one of the last out there doesn't he.

Vettel was slow during that first sector and Kimi who has been fast this week pounces for second, Nico isn't close at all.

The Fezzas have a chance here, they'll probably be first and second/third by the first lap tomorrow as they nail the starts.

Hamilton on pole, Raikkonen in second followed by Vettel then Rosberg.

Disappointing qualifying if you're Rosberg. 4th place is not good enough if he wants to be a serious threat to the championship. Great qualifying by Kimi, he's definitely stepped up on the Saturday.

Was hoping for more speed to be shown in Q3 but good to see Ferrari doing well and also Lewis doing enough to get pole. Ericsson, Hulkenberg, Grosjean, Perez, Vettel and Hamilton were slower than Q2 times.

Speaking of Rosberg, I think it's now or never for him to turn things around. Statistically he still stand's a decent chance at the WDC, but in reality Hamilton is on his A game and if nothing changes I see nothing but a total Hamilton domination for the rest of the season, one can hope though.

It depends, Rosberg's Spec-A engine may turn out to be a boon when Hamilton's running the Spec-B engine that failed on Rosberg. We could leave Monza with things far from decided.

True, it just seems though so far that this season isn't his year. Last year was more even in terms of driver performance, this season Hamilton has clearly been the stand out driver of the two, it reminds me of the Schumacher-Barrichello day's a bit I guess.

It only takes a couple of DNFs to completely change the look of a championship, this time last year Rosberg was 29 points ahead and after Hamilton's problem at the start it looked like he'd be almost 40 ahead.
