Really glad to see Kimi finally getting it together in qualifying. With his good race pace this could get interesting. Not sure what's the deal with Rosberg. You'd think with the new improved engine he'd be up there with Hamilton. A Merc front row lockout should be a no brainer here.

Yeah they saw something in the telemetry they didn't like and changed back to the older engine/fuel arrangement.

Praying the Scuderia can win this.... :D

Did Ferrari used some of its remaining tokens? Because it seems that they gaind a bit on the mercs even though merceds used all of its 7 remaining tokens

Mercedes tokens were supposedly spent making the power unit easier to develop in the future rather than adding power now.

Did anyone get a picture of the engine cover blown off in a high resolution? I'd really like to take a closer look at that!

On another note, let me get this right...

Button - 5 Place Penalty
Alonso - 10 Place Penalty
Sainz - 10 Place Penalty
Verstappen - 30 Place Penalty + Drive Through
Kvyat - 35 Place Penalty
Ricciardo - 50 Place Penalty

And Ericsson may get a penalty too? Plus Rosberg with quite an old engine and the prospect of Hamilton starting from the pits. Raikkonen only 0.24 away from Hamilton in qualy with Vettel on his tail. And then the Williams looking racey? Let's take out at least one more front runner for a Maldonado collision, multiply by Bernie and take the square root of FIA and I think we should leave Raikkonen alone, because he certainly knows what he is doing tomorrow. Ferrari have got this.

Ericsson has a 3 place penalty for impeding Hulk(?) in quaifying.

168 places worth of penalties for the entire grid.

Amus reporting (translated through Google Translate) that Mercedes apparently aren't concerned about the problem effecting Hamilton's engine.

It's not official info or anything, but Amus is a reasonable source.

Original article here in German.

Nico didn't have a sudden issue did he? Mercedes said that they felt it was likely Nico would run into problems in qualifying or the race, if they can't see the same thing on Lewis' car at the moment then he'll probably be able to reach the end of the race before it has chance to go, won't he? (I don't even know if I'm making sense.)

There is this image below which I got from WTF1, but there is a better shot at the top of the page itself.

The Toro Rosso self destructed itself.

They aren't having a good weekend are they?!

Did Lewis have to switch back to the old engine too? If not he shouldn't have any issues. Nico must have been told to preserve the engine because although he isn't no Lewis Hamilton I can't imagine him losing that much time, just from an engine change. Either way he's fighting the Ferrari's tomorrow.

A website states the bleeding obvious to get traffic with a story about the engines in Roberg's car verses Hamilton's car and suddenly people are getting excited about an issue that doesn't actually exist. :odd:

Mercedes detected an issue with the engine in one car so changed the engine. They did not detect any such issue with the engine in the other car. End of.

Does that mean Hamilton can't develop a problem during the race? No. Does it mean he won't? No.

Woolf said yesterday evening to several pressers that Mercedes hadn't yet found the problem with Rosberg's B-Spec engine. Sure, he was stating the obvious when he said that if they did find it and the risk to Hamilton's engine was unacceptable then they'd change his engine too... but that's the fact of the matter. It seems from yesterday's times that a Ferrari win would be hard to bet against at that point, it would remain to be seen how the two championship leaders would come out of it.

BBC
Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff said on Saturday evening that the team had not yet identified what the issue was.

Wolff admitted that if they found a "major issue" there was a possibility they would have to "consider whether to play it safe" and change Hamilton's engine for the race, which would mean him starting from the back of the grid.

This will be a Mercedes season from now on. Not a surprise

My god, what happened to Hamilton's hair? Please tell me he just lost a bet or something
He went full blond mode:lol:

This race just feels like it could be a good one... Wishful thinking, I know, but we can only hope.

Predictions for the race, Hamilton for the win, but he'll face a stern challenge from the Ferrari's. McLaren-Honda will go without points again rather unfortunately.
