Fan watching is always fun at Nascar races. My takeaways from being at the race:
-The confused state of everyone wondering how in the world the field couldn't even make it into turn 1 on lap 1 before having an incident.
-The stunned silence when Jr. got into the wall...multiple times....was quite humorous. (sorry to any Jr fans here)
-The "Oooooh!!!" when the Kyles got together coming to pit road.
-Fan sitting in front of us who flipped off Busch the entire length of pit road after said contact. (nevermind the fact that Larson was more likely at fault)

-The wild cheering as Johnson slowed and came to pit road with his engine failure. (and the poor 5 or 6 year old Johnson fan sitting in front of us who was being consoled by his dad after it happened

)
Non-crowd things:
-When Kenseth got caught back in traffic after pitting when the other front runners didn't early, it became the Logano snoozefest. I kept thinking that maybe Busch could challenge him, until his incident. Then Harvick came on strong later in the race but never did get close enough to challenge. Logano was absolutely destroying the field on the restarts too.
-I'm not entirely sure what Hornish's strategy was, simply staying on the track longer, but he got to lead a chunk of laps on a couple of occasions. Good on him and his team I guess.
-Stewart was slooooooow. It almost looked like he was holding up the backmarkers on some occasions.
-And not that anyone cares, but the 7 (Bowman) car's engine sounded sickly all race. I have no idea how they made it to the finish. On the flip side, Hamlin's car sounded quieter than everyone else's it seemed. Must have had something to do with the exhaust (a la Sterling Marlin's first Daytona 500 win back in the 90's), but I could be wrong. Whatever it was, it didn't affect his performance any.
