Honestly, hardly ANY good drivers come from Nationwide anymore. Its not the development series NASCAR wants people to believe it is so the want to get rid of Cup drivers entirely is stupid. Literally, the drivers that get the most coverage are only there due to established connections. When is the last time we actually even had an actual battle for Rookie Of The Year in Cup?

That's literally the onlypoint i agreed that...
That's what NASCAR is looking for with this fan council survey, they're seeing if the outrage over an Xfinity chase could be offset by banning cup drivers

Too bad they'll do a complete 180 on us in the end....
To be fair, another thing they asked about was the downforce package for next year, and they did end up picking what people have been suggesting to them.

We'll see what happens to the chase format at the end of next race season then...

Another reason why its a stupid idea.

It would've been more simpler to decrease the number of races that cup drivers do like only do the restrictor plate races for example and not put a chase system. But hey, thats just my opinion i guess

The problem isn't cup drivers. Mid 2000s in the good ol' Busch Series days you had Buschwhacker cup drivers running part time going for the title. But then you had 43 sponsored cars all legit trying to win. Nowadays its normal for over a quarter of the field to have parked after 50 laps. And most of the rest of the regulars have either 1: 🤬 equipment or 2: to be honest, the drivers are rubbish.

You've should have seen my face when hamlin passed suarez at darlington with 3 to go. I was PISSED off

I thought that BK once said that either he or Logano drive the trucks once in a while because sponsors don't really care to look at the young, unproven drivers and are only willing to sponsor the team if they do drive at some points in the season. Businesses are far more willing to put money on Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, or Dale Earnhardt, Jr. than someone that they've never heard of just because they're proven commodities. The business shift is also part of the reason for this:

Nowadays its normal for over a quarter of the field to have parked after 50 laps. And most of the rest of the regulars have either 1: 🤬 equipment or 2: to be honest, the drivers are rubbish.

Point number 1 is far more obvious since less sponsorship opportunities means less money to put back in the teams to make better cars. As for point 2, well, that's its own problem that happens either on its own (nobody good coming through the ranks) or because the families of the racers tend to have the money to sponsor the drivers.

Pretty much summed it up. Now, the only good teams are cup teams or cup affiliated teams (HScott with Chip Ganassi, Jr Motorsport, etc).

If they really wanted to ban Cup drivers...then just do that. You don't have to get rid of the original championship format to get rid of cup drivers.

I remember some years ago in an interview that Mark Martin is a big fan of rap music, but I didn't expect to hear this either.

I think the Xfinity Series is trying to be too much like the Sprint Cup. This rule will hurt them short term but will likely help them long term to return to what the series was in the 90s.

I don't think getting rid of the biggest sources of money will do much good for the series. As already mentioned, Sponsors don't want to take a chance with some unknown who is only known by us fans. They want a household name (regardless of talent). Its why Dollar General left Turner Motorsports and went to JGR, its why Z-line designs ditched Kevin Conway for Kyle Busch and its very likely why Regan Smith has lost TaxSlayer and with it, his ride.

I still hold that at some point, NASCAR will have to contract their schedules. There's far too many races and just not enough sponsors to go around for everyone.
