Another point I (also a Jr. fan) look at it is that Jr. costed himself a win by locking the brakes on the final stop. That wound up putting him in the position that kept him from being the control car in the restart due to having to drive back through the field. In the end, controlling the restart is what ultimately got Joey the win. Also, as stated often, it isn't Joey's fault that Harvick decided to pull a JWT out of nowhere which brought out the caution that sealed Joey's win.

I already agree with that, but he salvaged that to be in the exact spot for the win, and even if he didn't and stayed first off of the pit lane, this issue would have still happened. Also controlling it really didn't help Joey, because as Junior said the bottom line was the faster. Junior could have given a setup where he had his team mate behind and Joey had his, but that wouldn't have guaranteed a faster restart either. Also not sure about your last part since I just said I don't think it's Joey's fault either.

I kind of worded that poorly looking at it now, but the last sentence was agreeing with you that Joey didn't do anything wrong.

With how NASCAR has been acting with the Cup Series lately, Harvick will probably be penalized with free Zaxby's sponsorship.

I'd love to be proven wrong and see him get an actual penalty, though.

Harvick should just be sponsored by every vague and regional fast food place in the country. Who wouldn't want to see the What-A-Burger car compete at Texas.

Just throwing this into the mix.

Lights were on sooner than that, and at the time the lights did come on, Joey was barely ahead of Jr. Purely coincidental to the Harvick incident, but (Harvick) discussed needing a crash to happen before that second restart took place, and I do not buy his excuse that he was trying to block Trevor Bayne.

Personally, I'd rather have a "race to the next scoring loop" type of rule. This camera angle business is rife with problems.

That makes me wonder where the loop closest to them would be located. If a loop passed moments before the caution was located, it would have guaranteed Joey's win. However, if the rule you suggested was in place, Jr. might have possibly won due to being the first to the next loop (assuming that he didn't slow down due to the caution).

I think most of the camera angle issues this go around are more due to NASCAR not being consistent with the finish cameras. If they would have simply shown the camera at the exact moment that the race was flagged for the finish pictures instead of showing cameras from the field at the restart zone for the finish pictures, it would have never got to this point.

Camera angles don't determine who wins. The moment of caution has never determined the winner either. It's always the prior scoring loop.

I wish on GWC like this they would have a line or something to that effect where if a crash happened and the cars couldn't drive away then throw a caution..

This is only true for cautions during the middle of the race.

For a caution that ends the race, the exact positioning at the moment of the caution determines the finishing order.

NASCAR claims to be able to tag the exact frame for every camera angle at the moment the caution is displayed on track, so that they can use multiple different angles to determine in which positions drivers are scored.

From there, all a driver has to do is finish the race at pace car speed under caution, taking the checkered/yellow flags to maintain their finishing position. Anyone that stops or excessively slows on track can be passed for their position, even under the final caution period driving back to the checkered/yellow flags.

Yeah, it's kind of a shame that Joey's getting all the heat for it. I'm not a Joey fan, as you certainly know, but he did nothing wrong yesterday. He ran a good race. The fact that NASCAR let what Defa -- Harvick did slide is only going to hurt the sport.

I'll admit I was half asleep when I heard it last night but someone on TV basically said whoever makes it to Homestead should just take out his competition to win the championship that way. If NASCAR tries to penalize, the intense backlash for not doing so with Harvick at Talladega or Logano at Kansas would make this entire season a farce.

If they wind up penalizing someone for employing that strategy, I'll be boycotting the entire Sprint Cup schedule next season.

I would get my teammates to take people out at homestead. If they get penalized, it doesn't affect the championship negatively
