So basically Kevin should be replaced by Jr and Kyle should be replaced by Logano. I'd be down for that. One past champion and three drivers going for their first. That would be cool.
 
I'm a Kyle Busch fan. Glad to see him make it given the circumstances and also just as a general FU to the chase format. He has the most wins out of the final 4. If you rememner the 2011 chase it came down to Stewart and Edwards. They ended the season tied in points but the tie breaker was Stewart having more wins. Win and you are in is garbage. We'll see what happens next Sunday.

He was going to win Martinsville. He dominated the last part of the season. He had Final 4 written all over him.

You can't assume that Logano was going to win Martinsville. Any kind of late caution could have easily cost him that race.

I seem to remember the Ryan Newman/Clint Bowyer debacle that stole a similar "sure win" away from Jeff Gordon a few years ago.

IIRC the sure win debate was for Newman, and Gordon would have made it on the wild card
 
Regardless of the disappointing way this race finished up with the rain. Real happy for Truex and the #78 team. Awesome to see those guys in with a shot at the championship. đź‘Ť

I was talking about the Martinsville race that Gordon dominated, but lost on a GWC restart when Newman shoved Bowyer three wide into turn 1, wiping out the 15/24/48, and stealing the race win for Newman.

I was simply demonstrating to someone else that Logano was far from guaranteed to win at Martinsville, just because he was leading with fifty laps to go.

There are no guarantees at the paper clip.

Even so, he'd still finish top 5. In just about ever possible way, Logano should be in the Final 4. There's small chance he would've dropped to 30-something in those final 50.

Did Jeff or Jimmie finish top five in that race that Newman won?

Even with an assumed top five, wouldn't Joey still be twenty points out instead of sixty points out?
 
I can see why people aren't happy with Busch making it, but think back to the points just after Richmond.He had made up the same, if not more, points than a fair bit of the backmarkers had with an extra eleven races. I think Kyle was even closing in on Tony Stewart in the standings, and he's a two-time champion! Busch had an amazing season alone by his standards. He averages about 3 wins per year (Remember, this is an AVERAGE.) and he beat that with 4; on top of that, he came back from a broken leg and foot. Heck, six months ago the guy was in a wheelchair, and now he's racing for a championship.

I do see where pwople are coming from, with the "missed 11 races." Feels like he gets a shortcut, but I still think he darn well deserves to race at Homestead after what he's gone through this year.

Besides, if he doesn't win it this year, next year we get the low downforce package, so next year is going to be a great year for the #18.

To me, this would be equivalent to a football team losing its star quarterback, but getting him back just in time for the playoffs. Should he not start in the playoffs just because he missed half of the season?

If it's not 100%, the exact number doesn't matter. I also remember Kurt Busch cleanly passing the 48 with less than fifteen laps to go for a race win there in the spring of 2014.

Logano won the Goody's 450. Way to go, Joey!

Unfortunately, they only gave the trophy for the Goody's 500 winner that day.

And Joey probably would've gotten the Goody's 500 trophy too if he wasn't intentionally taken out. My whole view is, everyone knows Matt took him out on purpose. That's BS, Joey still might have lost it later on from normal racing, but we'll never know because it didn't happen. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the possible only reason he's out, is because someone took him out. It really made me question NASCAR at that time.

Even if Logano made it, I was still rooting for Truex from the start. I just think it's incredibly unfair on how he was taken out. I know NASCAR isn't scripted, but man that seems like something out of a movie.

So, it's unfair for Driver A to get taken out by Driver B, who isn't competing in the current round of the Chase. But, the only reason that Driver B was out of the Chase is because Driver B was intentionally wrecked by Driver A in the previous round, after Driver A had already advanced past that round?

That sounds about right.

It's why I'm glad Joey didn't advance. He needed to know how Kenseth felt at Kansas, and now he does.
