What are they doing?

Pretty sure thats what most people call r&d aka testing with a test mule.
Personally, bummed about the wait but super excited to see a new gen with new engine in the works.

The Brits are mourning, Kent. Subaru is barring the post-2012 Imprezas from being sold on the Isles.

Still, I'm sure if someone want's one bad enough, they can just head to the mainland, buy one in France or Germany, and simply drive it back. I may be wrong, though, can anyone from the UK say if this can be done?

I don't think it's that simple of a solution, due to left-hand drive, right-hand drive differences.

Alternatively, you can import one of the better ones from Japan, which has RHD, and the EJ20 engine, though I'd imagine it's gonna be hard as hell to do.

It's easier than you might think.

Sad to hear they'll be killing off a good chunk of their line in the UK. It doesn't add up that they would; I heard that, while definitely not a class-leader in the sales department, the Impreza was a pretty consistent one on a year-by-year basis for a while now.

Well, weren't they like, stupidly expensive in the UK anyway? I think homeforsummer said just last week that the 135Ci cost basically as much as an STi.

They're talking about the current gen being discontinued in the UK. ;)

If I remember correctly the 135Ci is £1,000 cheaper than an STI so I can see why Subaru is reporting a lack of sales but, I know I'd rather have an STI.

Subaru is stopping the STI, WRX, and Imprezas. I'd make a thread but I don't feel like it.

Edit: And also because I know just as much about Subaru as I know how to translate Chinese to French to English back to Chinese.

Sorry, didn't have time to read it. :)

Edit: Oops, I didn't realize either that it's only in the UK. Lucky us...:sly:

Old pic apparently.
It's yet another rendering. Apparently C&D took a picture of the current generation impreza back from concept days and rendered it some (with 4x1?? bolt pattern for god's sake).
But heck, I'd buy it if it looked like that. Don't really want to spend the dough on 'MY13 STI given how dated it is, and used ones cost ridiculous money.

I don't understand the hate for the new Impreza's looks. They don't photograph terribly well (particularly the sedan), but in the flesh I think they're one of the best-looking small cars you can buy today. Way better than the GE/GH.

What is the point in making WRX Impreza, after Subaru withdrawn from world rally stages this version is pointless. Although Impreza is pointless without being WRX version. Just like Lancer is pointless without being an EVO version.

Agreed. Hopefully they can find stable footing again and reenter the championship. Better to have no Subaru WRC car than no Subaru at all.

I disagree. The Impreza has always been a fine economy car.

Maybe but, that isn't what the Impreza is known for. It's known for being a rally bred road car hence the WRX and STI models.

This. Of all the imprezas I see, most of them are of the WRX and STi type. Not saying they can't get good mileage, but they aren't known for the green image but more for the dirt image.

I get that it's a business decision but it's terrible news, not a big fan of the Scooby myself but it's perfectly suited to the B-Roads here (and the weather!)

IF that is real, I don't like the side profile. Makes the wheels look huge and the greenhouse look tiny. Proportions are all off. Would need to see photos with a better angle/lighting.

Won't ever happen, don't worry. That render is based off the Impreza concept, which never manifested into real life as far as concepts go.

I do agree on the side profile looking rather awkward in proportion to the front. Not sure about the rear as well.
