Wait. Impreza concept<------>"WRX" concept....

Are they actually planning on making them two separate lines?

Response: You guys LIKE the type 3? I still think it got a horseshoe kicked in the face.

I approve as well and in the second or third model year I will be testing for a replacement to my current car. Very cool stuff, I can't wait to see the final production version.

Looks great!
A set of gold rims and the larger rear wing and I would definately look to buy it ;)
Even without the wing tbh.

Well, I like it. Then again, I say 'to hell with it' most of the time in terms of car design, and I'll pick an angry brash looking car over a sleek and svelte one four out of five times.

Doesn't look like a very good rally car :/

WRC is dead anyway, and Subaru as a manufacturer hasn't been part of WRC for years now, apart from probably privateers. I therefore don't see a reason why this new Impreza should have any connection with the rally sport.

So much for the concept, lol.
Looks like a current impreza sedan with a bodykit.
I really hope that's a drivetrain mule, but it's kinda late for those.

It's about as flamboyant as you could expect. In fact, I'd say it's enough of a subtle improvement over the standard Impreza that I'd call it reasonably good-looking. As much as I gave the Impreza a lot of grief on it's introduction, it has grown on me. Tweaking the front for a late '90s style vibe is a step in the right direction, while still maintaining the reasonable and well-mannered proportions (and pieces) of the current car.

I think my only complaint is that the rear spoiler on that prototype is ridiculous. It's pretty clear that they're pulling on the 22b heart strings, but that doesn't do much for me. Turn it back down to 7 or 8, as a WRX should be, and leave these pieces for the STi.

Why is it being tested in Europe? I'm certain Japanese mountain roads would be fine for testing, or is testing at the Nurburgring required now?

And you know this how?
If you look very closely at the bottom right of the grille, I'm pretty sure you can see the STI logo, but in black. Or maybe it's a placebo effect.

Anyway, I'm liking it so far. They replaced the ugly front of the normal Impreza, and the front doesn't droop like in the concept.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they put the WRX logo in the grille too? Or am I just a crazy person?

Didn't see that, my bad.

Still disappointed with it. They're going against what they said they were going to do...

Yeah, the partitioned front and rear windows do give the car a cheap feel. The windows were all one piece on the concept. Come to think of it, why did Subaru remove the frameless windows?

Anyway, why would Subaru release a concept WRX only to have its mule spotted three weeks later? Surely they didn't manage to plan what the new WRX would look like in that short time.

As someone who currently drives a car with frame less windows, I'm not a fan. Even if they look cool, or, whatever other justification is out there... I've had far more problems with my doors freezing shut, them not sealing quite as well, and smears all over the glass because people don't pay attention. It's more frustrating than it's worth, and if Subaru is going to move past it, I don't think there are a lot of people who will complain. Okay, maybe the die-hard Subaru enthusiasts will. But everyone else? It's a smart move.

It looks like they slapped the regular Impreza a last-gen STI wing, the typical hood scoop (also last gen look-alike) and a new bodykit. meh...

The camo makes it look like it's 22b inspired, and me likeys.

Oh, and the 911 back there, is it just randomly there or are they using it as a reference? :dopey:
