But what a day to be a sportscar fan!
Is it me or is the GTLM BMW like, identical to the GT3 except the one missing canard and a different rear wing?
EDIT: Here's the pron gallery.
EDIT EDIT: No more floppy Aston! And the massive rear wing is back! Watch out, the big V12 is coming.
Yeah looks like the rear wing is the only difference between gt3 and gtlm BMW M6.
I hope they washed Seb's old suit before giving it to "hi to my family"
Probably not...they just taped over Seb's name so...yeah.
Man that new motor in the Mazda Lola is LOUD!
Its looks nasty in black, but I dont think Yellow is going to suit it,
Sound reminds me of older P2 units from mid 2000's. Approved.
I think the yellow suits it very well
That's not the 2016 car....
I personally would like to see the 2016 C7R with a black and yellow C7R side by side before making an opinion as to which color will look best on it. It's really hard to say which looks the best without seeing them together.
They're not that different...
The 2016 one is on steroids.
Anybody know what the metal thing at the back (where the roadcar's exhaust is) is?
Just got back from Daytona. The GT3 cars are really quiet in comparison to the others (though they're still loud!). The R8 seemed to be pretty darn fast! I don't know if it'll prove to be faster than the M6 though...

Thank you, based-Mazda for finally seeing reason. Sounds actually abit like the Porsche 919's engine only more raw. I approve
Gotta say I love the sound of the new powerplant over the old one and it sounded pretty good to me.
We have finally come full circle.
Production engines vs Race engines is essentially why they are quiet.
Really only a few canards and small wings as differences though.
Well I believe that engine started life in 2007 so youre not entirely wrong.
And that massive wide mouth air intake which will probably be left as raw carbon fibre and chicken wire... There is a massive change to the front of the car,
ESM to enter a single Ligier Honda at Daytona and Sebring. The car belongs to Oak racing and will use the new 3.5L. http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/esm-planning-single-car-ligier-honda-p2-entry-for-daytona-sebring/
Rear diffuser a bit different too, excited to see how well it does.
Nielsen to Scuderia Corsa in a new 488 GT3. http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/nielsen-confirmed-at-scuderia-corsa/
With that...here's an update for the GT classes:
Corvette - 2
Ford - 2
Ferrari - 1
BMW - 2
Porsche - 2
GTLM Total = 9
Ferrari - 1
Aston Martin - 1
BMW - 2
Lamborghini - 3
Porsche - 4
Audi - 2
Mercedes - 1 (Sebring start of season for them, unless things change)
GTD Total = 14
GTLM/GTD Combined Total = 23
Thanks to GTD we've got a decent grid size, the GT only events will be amazing this year. 23 cars! The supporting cast of Prototypes are a bit muddy for a list at the moment. #GTMasterRace
Park Place are planning on being that 4th 911 but Pumpelly is moving on. http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/park-place-closing-on-new-porsche-pumpelly-seeks-new-ride/
Will update my post then. Interesting that Pumpelly is leaving the team, wonder where he will end up?
Note the blue numbers and the Imsa windshield banner which means they havent paid the ransom yet.
Winner by KO.
BMW M6 GT3/GTLM (V8 Turbo) - Gross...just ew. How is it quiter than a 650S?!
Viper GT3-R (gigantic V10) - Awesome as always.
Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 (smaller V10) - Noice!
Corvette C7.R GTE (Murica' V8) - OH YEAH BABY!
Mazda Lola LMP2 (swag 4 cylinder Turbo) - **** YEAH!
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'd just like to voice an opinion I have. Championship title sponsors, or at least naming the championship after them, is moronic and erodes a championships own history.
