Celtic failed to win for just the second time this season yet remain on course to finish the season unbeaten... a feat that has only been achieved twice in Scottish football history, firstly by Celtic in the '97-'98 season, and then (remarkably) by Rangers the following year.

Imagine we seen a follow up in 16-17 and 17-18. :scared:

I was at the game and it was pretty poor, Celtic turned in their worst performance of the season so far and Rangers did well relative to their season so far.
 
Well, indeed. Alex Neill had in fact already taken the press conference for Saturday's game before he was dismissed 24 hours before kick-off.

As for Graham Westley, I've never really rated him as a manager but Newport have pulled a Coventry and pulled the desperate trigger finger to avoid relegation; why appoint someone midseason only to dismiss them shortly afterwards?

Derby is a strange one. He had a great start and now they're off form. Is that really grounds enough for dismissial? Derby's entire season has been up and down, regardless of expectations, so it's again strange to hire someone only to get rid of them at the very first breath of poor form.

That's four clubs now who have sacked their manager, hired someone new midseason and sacked them too! Leyton Orient, Newport County, Coventry City and Derby County.

You can also make it six if you count Rotherham; sacked Alan Stubbs before Kenny Jackett walked out on them after 5 games.

Westley did get back to back promotions with Stevenage a while back, in his xth spell at the club out of y. (Where x<y):)
 
Romelu Lukaku tells Everton that he won't sign a new deal with them, his current deal still has over two years to run.

Gary Rowett has got the Derby job and Mark Warburton has got the Forest job.

He did but he hasn't done much since then. That was seven years ago.

In other FL news, Wimbledon beat Milton Keynes 2-0 this evening and are now six points clear of their biggest rivals. Good stuff.

Presumably after seeing what ditching Ranieri did for Leicester, Boro have sacked Karanka - and that's frankly an insane decision, as he has properly sorted their defence (only the top three and Manchester United have conceded fewer) and they just need a couple of goals to survive...
 
He did walk out on them last year, miss one game then was "re-appointed".

Karanka and Middlesbrough don't have that "play badly on purpose until we're on the old tactics again" that Leicester have. Not as far as I can work out anyway.

It's madness how managers who get a team promoted are sacked if there is even a hint of going back down. It makes me think of things like Alan Curbishley's 15 year reign at Charlton, their best ever period in history. The first time he took them up in 1998 they went straight back down but the next time he took them up they were on the fringes of the Champions League spots by 2004. And look where they have fallen to without him.

That wouldn't happen in today's game. He'd have been axed midway through 1998/99.
 
They haven't won in the last 10 league games though, not saying its the right decision or not but its certainly and interesting one.

That is very true. And United have shown nothing but poor performance lately. Lucky to get some of the results with us.
 
West Ham 2-3 Leicester City :D
First away win for Leicester in the league after a loooong time.
Schmeichel's saves were again very crucial, especially in the final minute when he denied the goal from Andy Carroll.

United with a lucky 3-1 win against Middlesbrough. Valencia with the 3rd goal after a horrible slide from Valdes.

Lingards goal was quite nice though. :cool:
 
Yeah it was a bit lucky, no idea what we were doing tactics wise in the last 20 minutes to let them back in, Brilliant Lingard goal, didn't know Valdes was still on the United payroll! :lol:

Good win, wasn't going to be easy with our third game in six days with injured, tired and suspended players, the fixture pile up we have is a bit worrying.

As for my other team Swansea, second loss in a row yesterday meaning we are back in trouble, all the momentum we had at the start of Clements reign has disappeared and we have to get our act together after the break as we have probably our biggest game of the season at home to Middlesbrough.
 
I don't understand the tactics Mourinho used against Middlesborough, they were unlucky to lose 3-1, they were hte better team IMO but didn't score any of their early chances. When we went 2-0 instead of bringing on another defender we should have brought on a midfielder and held the middle of the pitch.

Oh well, the 3 points are in the bag and although I wasn't thrilled with the performance, we're 5th, 3 points off 4th with a game in hand and 4 points from 3rd (as it stands, could change later). Just need to up that goal difference incase that's what decides the top 4.
 
Middlesbrough were not the better team, they were terrible up until their goal which we gifted to the for our negative tactics and their defense backed off completely for Lingard's goal, they were poor.
 
Over the course of the match I think they were, we were the most threatening team in the first half but they tested De Gea a couple of times and it could have been all square at half time. In the second half I think they were the better team, partly becuase they went for it and partly because we let them be better.
 
City 0-0 Liverpool at the break, City had most of the possession but Liverpool had the two best chances.
 
Finally some good news for Arsenal fans. The ladies beat Spurs 10-0 in the FA cup. :)
 
City 1-1 Liverpool result, Milner pen and Aguero equaliser, really entertaining game with both teams having lots of chances desperate to win, Lallana with the miss of the season!

Top three all played 28, Man U and arsenal played 27, Liverpool Everton and West Brom played 29?
 
One of United's game in hand is away to Man City though, and its right at the end of April just before we play Chelsea and Arsenal, other game in hand is against Southampton which hasn't been rescheduled as far as i know, plus we have a lot of Europa League games if we progress, very tough last couple of months of the season for the team.
 
Next few months will either make us or break us. Probably break as it's like a game every three days for about 6 weeks.
