Oh man if Toyota actually pulls it off and Lebron pulls off his upset against the Golden State Whiners it would be an amazing weekend for me :D
And if Ferrari, or even Red Bull can beat Mercedes, but I may be asking too much there.

How many noses do the teams bring?
Most teams will have multiple back-ups, but Toyota have a night variant that'll have a different aero config to deal with the cooler temperatures at night. Some teams just pull the cars in to tweak wing angles and such.

Is this for real? It's really unbelievable how serious things are at this level!

Seems all I here them call for are full mm sizes from 1-3, even if you had 1-5 in 1/2 mm sizes that is only ten parts per car. Doesn't seem unrealistically expensive for a multi-million dollar international race team. Correct me if I am wrong, please, but I don't think you would need dozens or hundreds of parts to be prepared for this.

It does when you're team isn't based in Europe, only does this race internationally and thus the original restrictors were probably made back in the U.S. and then shipped to the team. This is a literal rule change that is a day and half before the race itself and you basically expect them to have either a CNC on them...or even a lathe, or super cross Atlantic over night shipping.

Uh you do need dozens of parts, this is the same team that had to rebuild a third of their car back in 2009 or 10 when it was taken out by a Peugeot LMP. Then you talk about a team like Aston who has all their cars owned by private, and manufacture and prodrive just call them up to race and don't have nearly the money Ford has invested in this. I mean when you compare to the two teams from the U.S. even, it's easy to see why CGR would have needed materials for the IMSA cars visiting, when they literally are based in Europe as well.

Of course, performance is completely dependent on track conditions. It's much easier to build up specific noses that take a few seconds to change rather than physically tweak them.

I think it went too far with those aero packages.

Chip Ganassi has something like that for the Ford GTs too, but they have it for the rear wing that's mounted right onto the rear cover. So instead of adjusting the rear wing they can just swap the whole rear cover quickly.

Toyota's performance this year is so... Audi-like? The stints are just like clockwork. No fuss, just powering through.

The darkness you creates an "aero wake" that the sun can't produce. See the moon beams in the night creates a wave of energy over the car that many teams haven't taken advantage of...but Toyota has. #nighttimeaero #innovationatwork24h
Now we're definitely grabbing at straws.
