So long as the prize is $1,000,000 the "race" will continue to be irrelevant no matter where it is. That's just not enough these days to make the drivers and teams risk equipment for a slightly bigger than usual payday.

Which explains everything about the NASCAR schedule as well.

That probably was more to do with NASCAR wanting the tracks locked into contracts before they could drop NASCAR.

Summary: We don't like change. Which explains everything about the NASCAR schedule as well.
The reddit comments to DW's tweet had a pretty good idea, since now the Finale is a huge spectacle, why not rotate that and the All Star Race each year, split evenly between SMI & ISC tracks for the pool. In other words, one year the finale would be at a SMI track and the All Star Race at an ISC, and the next year the opposite

That makes entirely too much sense...therefore, it will never happen.

Also, doesn't NASCAR own the ISC?

It's one of the few suggestions made in the comments of /r/NASCAR that actually makes sense financially for all parties involved. The only downside I've seen is that it gets rid of the team's 2 weeks off from travelling

Funny that Gossage is suddenly all about history.
You know, after displacing the longest held tradition in the sport, the Southern 500, 12 years ago just to get a second race at his track.
Anyway, here's a bit I contributed to for Frontstretch http://frontstretch.com/2016/03/30/two-headed-monster-should-nascar-bring-in-more-manufacturers/
I'd love to become the Ben Stein of NASCAR

Also, if anybody honestly thinks NASCAR would have its finale at a Bruton Smith racetrack they have another thing coming. It's possible but it's also possible I get hit by a meteor tomorrow

Trust me, he was a terrible punter. I'm pretty sure he managed to boot a ball backwards one game some years ago. (And I do mean some time ago...that article is from 2009 ) He's a much better race car driver.

Huber is hella good. So good that those damn dirty Steelers had to break his jaw...

Plackemeier was pretty good in NFL Head Coach ('06, the one will Bill Cowher on the cover), but didn't amount to much in the NFL IIRC

I had forgotten about that. I really wish they would move the Steelers to the NFC.

Watching practice and the Truck race, it looks like FOX is using two different types of camera. Most of them are the ones normally used, but there is at least one mounted just above turn 3 entry that shows a different picture. I want to say it's an HD camera, but I know nothing about it so does anyone here know what it is, because the tires give the difference away.

Cup driver wins :banghead::banghead:
Nothing new considering the driver and team, but the fact he wasn't five miles ahead the entire race is. John Hunter sure as hell tried to get him though, and as of right now KB is only supposed to be running 4 truck races this year.

@Ganon83 do you root for JH like you would Joe?

Offically I don't root for anybody but I will say I like JH more than a lot of guys out there.
It doesn't hurt that he's one of the better young guys

Wheel hopping is a hell of a thing. Sucks he just couldn't get the rear end slid out more just to mash it up some instead of wrapping it around to the front. And if anyone else is watching, going to put in my two cents before things get toxic.

Brian Vickers is having a hell of a race,
Ryan Blaney is having a hell of race
Paul Menard, awesome, hope he can get back up front.
Respect is growing for Danica for the way she is driving around Martinsville of all places.

New Wonder Boy is again, not being so Wonderful (but hey, he's out there and I'm not, and don't think I don't like Chase, I do.), But Rookie Blues are continuing for the New kid. I don't think he's bad, but Similar to Austin, Trevor, and Kyle L, etc, all had mediocre at best, Rookie years. I see them all possibly getting a win this year, most certainly next year. The tides turning:tup:

I hope that the person who came up with the idea to hang the spring rubbers from the spring got a fat raise, because that's genius.

First, am I seeing things on the turn 3 camera?

Second, why haven't the tires laid rubber down, no "cuz Goodyear sux! lolololollool!"

Third, AJ! AJ! AJ! AJ! AJ!.....Paul! Paul! Paul!

I'm fairly certain that it has to do with the size of the chunks of rubber that come off the tires. It's been mentioned at dover and bristol before that if the chunks are just too big they don't stick to the track because the surface can't have more of it shoved down into the cracks because they don't exist.

Makes sense, thank you.

Also, damn this race is getting real good.
