34 tracks. 34 races. You have all 23 now, plus a couple more road courses, a track somewhere in the north west, refurbish both Wilkes and Rockingham, Iowa, Milwaukee, and a couple more short tracks and you have yourself a schedule.

Of course it won't happen because Bruton and the Frances would literally be taking money out of their pockets and more importantly, from their shareholders.

I know it's all about making money, but having one race at a track means a better chance of it being a sell out because the fans won't get another chance that year to see a race at that track.

It would be better to shorten the season than to go to 34 different tracks.

32 would be a fair number. TV wants 36. 34 is the compromise

In other news, ISC's ticket sales are down 10% this quarter, and they are blaming it on lack of Gordon and Stewart along with everybody being more focused on the Chase races. Using that logic football should be about half as popular 46 weeks of the year.

So, I'd been wondering this for a bit and thanks to a bit of research, and ultimatly, a news article on NASCAR'S Facebook page, I finally have a list of what tracks Kyle Busch has not won at in the Cup series:

-Charlotte
-Kansas
-Pocono
/end

Seriously, only three. He checked Indy and Homestead of the list last year, and fell just shy of winning Pocono. I knew he won a lot of races, but I didn't know he had that few tracks left to do it at!

As much as I was pissed off when Johnson won 5 in a row I'm happy to see the yellow numbers back.

Supposedly only needs a win at Watkins Glen in Xfinity to complete that series. He completed Trucks by winning Martinsville.

I don't think it's as ridiculous as you may think. Under the current system there really isn't much incentive to watch/attend the pre-chase races unless you are a major fan as they have very little bearing on the championship outcome. A driver could go out, win a race early on than be crap the rest of the year and still win the championship. It also doesn't help that they have more Chase spots than there are cars actually competing for the championship under a normal format.

I would say NCAA mens basketball is a pretty good analogy. Apart from the major fans of a given team very few people follow it let alone actually attend the regular season games. However once February rolls around people suddenly start tuning in and they go from barely filling small arenas to selling out stadiums.

Football has the benefit of having a smaller amount of games so their impact on the overall results are much greater.

Jr is racing the Xfinity race Friday. I have not read a single complaint about it lol

It probably helps that he only does a few races a year.

To be fair to Jr., he is driving for his own team, if Kyle Busch would just take the L and bring KBM back up to Xfinity and run that, I wouldn't have an issue with him in that series

Did KBM get support from JGR when they had the brief stint in "Nationwide"? If I recall correctly, JRM has a pretty strong connection with HMS, but who can blame them.

Not as high as JRM, as JGR still raced in the Nationwide series at the time. He got different motors than JGR IIRC

As much as everyone hated Johnson dominating, Matt Kenseth's championship did more damage to the sport.
No, it did not. Idiotic decisions immediately after said championship did that. Ironically, no one whined seven years earlier when Terry won it with 2 wins against Gordon's 10...

I sense that post was textbook sarcasm.

"Did I even get it close?"

I came by the link below quite by accident, it was on the right side of the Youtube page full of "Stand By Me" videos which I was watching. Actually, I was watching "Playing For Change" version of the song which is quite good in my opinion. At any rate, thought this was rather interesting and I'd like to see you all thought about it.

Is NASCAR rigged? No.
Does NASCAR try to manufacture exciting racing with official and un-official tactics? Yes.

Dale Jr. is still the biggest hole in the argument for "NASCAR is rigged". If it was really rigged, he would be the one with 6 titles and a threat to win every week instead of Johnson.

Also, is it just me or do the people that make those types of videos just like to hear themselves talk? The always seem extremely long for what content they have.

John Oliver's bit on conspiracy videos is pretty funny
