I'll be covering stuff from the media center this weekend for the second time after Richmond last year. Going to be a fun time as I'm covering my first Truck race

Since everyone's all about paint schemes here.

Have to say, never thought I'd ever see the NASCAR twitter account even mention ol' Smokey, never mind posting a picture of him

Just heard Kyle Busch gets a P3 penalty and his front tire changer is suspended for a week as well as his crew chief and fined 20K. No further details but it seems that maybe the front driver tire only had 4 lug nuts.

From Jayski:

Kansas post-race warnings; #18 crew chief suspended: NASCAR has issued one penalty and several written warnings following the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway:
The #18 team of Kyle Busch has been given a P3 penalty for violating the lugnut rule. Crew chief Adam Stevens has been fined $20,000, suspended from all NASCAR Series Championship Points Events through May 18, placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31; front tire changer has been suspended from all NASCAR Series Championship Points Events through May 18 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31

When I did my little preview and commentary of Dover, I forgot to mention that the races at Dover for the XFINITY Series will feature heat races. There will still be all three top Touring Series running Dover this weekend.

So, about 5 minutes into 1st practice, Something broke in the rear gear assembly on Danicas car, and she laid oil on the track from turn 4 and past the front straight before spinning. Tony Stewart was behind her and he spun right and made contact with the wall and then slid down the track and hit the inside wall. He got out under his own power. Also McMurray slid in the oil coming out of 4 and slapped the wall on exit and hurt his elbow.

I got some screen grabs from my phone watching it live. I don't think it was a rear gear. Something in the motor.

Edit - It was apparently a rear gear problem. They say the 41 had a similar problem right before Danica's car has the problem.

F1/NASCAR crossover with a solid driver and "honorary American" leading the hype for the race...Great!

But HScott?!?!? 🤬 that noise, Germain racing or even Ganassi (road racing/Indycar politics aside) would be better one-off hosts than a team that spends more time on liveries than actual growth and performance.

To be fair, that team was kinda held up by a Mr. Steve Turner (remember that whole mess between him and Harry Scott). Also, there is this:

A potential opportunity could come with HScott Motorsports, which is aligned with Stewart-Haas Racing and fields two cars for Michael Annett and Clint Bowyer.

Considering Danica isn't driving for SHR yet has HScott pace with her teammates, it can't be all that bad for Grojean. Hell, I'd be willing to bet he'll be the best performing Hscott car in years.
