Then you'd know what it feels like to be a Bengals fan, 1 year contract extension after the other for Marvin. Fun times. :)

Bills fans have much experience.

Although the Bengals can't win playoff games, atleast they can make it there.

It took a while for both the Texans and Bengals to heat up offensively. In the end, it was the Texans coming away with the win here in Houston. But it was so freaking close! The score was 12-10 in favor of the Texans. I thought the Texans were going to lose in poetic fashion. But Randy Bullock went wide right on that would-be game winning kick. We really need to thank Jacksonville, though, for smacking up the Titans to get us in a position to make the Playoffs by picking apart the Tennessee Titans at home. So we're in! I'm sorry for my good mates Dolph Drago, Angel, and the rest of Bengals Nation. Considering how sluggish both teams were, either team could have won. Thankfully for me, it was the Texans. So that's how our final home game of 2016 ends. It is also the final game of 2016 for us. Nice to have this little inner-forum rivalry.

Up next... at the Tennessee Titans on New Year's Day 2017.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week.

Good 'ol Prime Time Bungals. Even with a different kicker, it still comes down to a missed kick with time expiring...:rolleyes:

At least we will have a better draft position for next season. Though we will probably shoot ourselves in the foot next week by somehow beating the Ravens, thus giving Pittsburgh the North and simultaneously making our draft position worse. Would seem fitting to end the season that way.

Anyway, congrats and you're welcome to the Texans for taking the AFC South. :lol:

But clearly a win next week means you will win the Super Bowl. With that mindset, how can you throw the game away?!

The Jets got buried again. Thankfully I missed it. Not watching this year has been such a relaxing activity.

Hey, we're no better in prime time. Remember the Texans at New England, or that screw job in Mexico City against Oakland? This game realistically could have gone either way. It's just that the Texans and Bengals decided to get the offense going in the 4th Quarter after such slow starts. I'm just glad as a Texans fan we pulled out this one at home.

I will say this- Ravens at Steelers is going to be pretty fun. Broncos at Chiefs also should be a good game.

Next week's Lions game against the Packers will be a winner take all for the NFC North. Sadly, with how bad Detroit has looked lately, I wouldn't be shocked if they lost both MNF against the Cowboys and the aforementioned game against Green Bay and could see them finishing 9-7 now. Oh well, I shouldn't be complaining because they actually will have a winning season this year.

They could also fall out of the playoffs if they finish 9-7. If they lose out and Washington beats the Giants, the Lions go home.

I'm pretty torn about that. On one hand, it would help to go to the playoffs just because they'd actually be in. But on the other hand, Detroit would get a slightly better pick and also would not be embarrassed in the playoffs if they missed out. I'm not sure which would be a better scenario to me.

Is it still the better record gets to host the game or is it divisional winner always? Wondering if the Giants could actually host a game. Would be funny if the Seahawks managed to bungle up and despite being the 4 seed not host a wildcard game.

Division winners always host unless the conference championship game comes down to the two wildcard teams.

I thought there was some caveat to that if the division winner finished at .500 or below. Although that's not possible this year. I'm not sure why Tampa Bay is still listed as playoff eligible, I worked through many possible scenarios next week and I cannot find one that allows them to make the playoffs.

It depends on who they tie with and their records against same opponents

I'm aware of that, but because of the result from Saturday Night, they would need the Lions to lose out as they cannot win any tie-breaker with the Packers.

Edit:
Found it: Here is the ONLY way Tampa Bay makes the playoffs:
Week 16:
Dallas must defeat Detroit

Week 17:
Dallas wins over Philadelphia
Detroit wins over Green Bay (so Green Bay would miss the playoffs)
San Francisco over Seattle (so easy)
Tennessee over Houston (well neither team has a QB)
Indianapolis over Jacksonville

FINALLY and this one is key:
New York Giants and the Washington Redskins Tie

If Tampa Bay runs this 7 game parlay, they make the playoffs.

Lions at Cowboys TONIGHT!

The 2016 Monday Night Football finale features two NFC leaders from two "D's." We got NFC North leading Detroit at NFC East champion Dallas. 12-2 Dallas has been ballin' all season since rolling with Dak Prescott at QB. Standing in their way tonight are ferocious felines from 9-5 Detroit. These cats from MoTown look to trip up the hot Cowboys as they seek their first Division title since 1993. Which blue are you rolling with- Detroit or Dallas?

The Over/Under for this game is 45 points, and Dallas is favored by 6. Bet wisely if you are the betting type. Enjoy the game if you will be watching.

That's the talking hairdo/ sports talk radio talking point that comes around every time a .500 or under team wins a division, it is just fluff to fill time.

The New QB (Dontari Poe) at Kansas City did well - Starter behind center in the next game?

The Steelers/Ravens game was the first NFL game I ever personally attended. If I was only permitted to go to one Steelers home game my entire life, then I picked one hell of a good one. 👍

I don't know Detroit's playoff situation, but at this point, they'd better smash Green Bay at home in their regular season finale. Currently 42-21 in favor of Dallas in Dallas (Arlington, TX) with about 4:43 left in the 4th Quarter.

4. Green Bay Packers (9-6, North leader; 7-4 conf, 4-1 div)
W 38-25 vs. Vikings, at Lions

• Would clinch the North with a win/tie at the Lions because of a head-to-head sweep of the Lions.
• Would clinch a wild-card berth with a Redskins loss against the Giants plus a Buccaneers loss to the Panthers or having better strength of victory than the Buccaneers (currently leading 60-75-1 to 59-77-1 counting the necessary Green Bay loss at Detroit and Tampa Bay win against Carolina).

x-5. New York Giants (10-5, top wild card; 7-4 conf, 3-2 div)
L 19-24 at Eagles, at Redskins

• Clinched the No. 5 seed with the Buccaneers’ loss at the Saints because of a head-to-head win against the Lions, who are the only other possible 10-6 wild-card team.

6. Detroit Lions (9-6, bottom wild card; 7-4 conf, 3-2 div)
L 21-42 at Cowboys, vs. Packers

• Would clinch the North with a Week 17 win against the Packers. Would lose a tie to the Packers because of a head-to-head sweep (factoring in their Week 17 meeting) but still can earn a wild card.
• Would clinch a playoff berth before kickoff with a Redskins loss/tie because of a better record (3-2) against the Bears, Cowboys, Rams and Saints than the Buccaneers.

7. Washington Redskins (8-6-1; 6-5 conf, 3-2 div)
W 41-21 at Bears, vs. Giants

• Would clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Giants plus the Packers-Lions game is not a tie.

8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-7; 6-5 conf, 3-2 div)
L 24-31 at Saints, vs. Panthers

• Would clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Panthers plus a Packers loss at the Lions plus a Redskins tie against the Giants plus a Texans loss at the Titans plus a Colts loss at the Jaguars plus an Eagles loss to the Cowboys plus a Seahawks loss the 49ers because of a better conference record than the Redskins (7-5 to 6-5-1) and a better strength of victory than the Packers (63-80-1/62-81-1 to 62-80-2/61-81-2 depending on the Bears-Vikings result).

What an awful decision. I hope that one day this team will go to better management.

I don't think this team will ever make the playoffs again.

What a joke. Buffalo's 9th coach in 19 seasons. If they don't keep whoever the interim head coach is, than they'll have 10 coaches in 20 seasons.

Bye bye, Rex Ryan! Yep. Rexy got fired as coach of the Buffalo Bills.

This is the final week of regular season NFL football in 2016. If you have done computer programming before, you may know of if-then statements and comments like AND and OR. There are plenty of AND's and OR's to determine how a team can make the Playoffs.

! = won home field advantage

--- AFC: Who's In! ---
* New England (AFC East champs)
* Pittsburgh (AFC North champs)
* Houston Texans (AFC South champs)
* Miami
* Oakland
* Kansas City

--- NFC: Who's In! ---
* Dallas! (NFC East champs)
* Atlanta (NFC South champs)
* Seattle (NFC West champs)
* New York Giants

So except for Division champions, the AFC is locked in. The Green Bay at Detroit game is basically the NFC North championship game. It's kind of like (for you college fans) how Oklahoma at Oklahoma State was basically the Big XII Championship game. So winner takes the NFC North at Ford Field in MoTown. And what about Tampa Bay's million-to-one playoff hopes? Having seven things go in their favor will give the Buccaneers any playoff hopes. I know stranger things have happened, but that would be incredibly impossible for Tampa Bay to get in considering what all needs to happen.

If your team(s) is/are in, all you have to do is keep players healthy to make a more-than-decent run into the Playoffs. To that end, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention both Marcus Mariota and Derek Carr going down with injury from this past week. I wish both well in their recovery.

Every NFL team plays on New Year's Day to close out the season. No Thursday Night Football (or no "poopfest" according to one player), no Saturday game, no Monday Night Football... all 32 teams, 16 games, one day. Also one last chance to make some kind of push to make the playoffs.

Enjoy this week's games.

It looks like Marvin Lewis is going to be back as the Bengals' head coach next season.

I'm ok with it only because I have little to no confidence in Mike Brown hiring someone who would be an improvement.

Exactly. Until Mike Brown passes the team along, any change at HC will be a bad one. Marvin knows the team, and at least knows how to get to the playoffs.

The thing is, Brown won't give up the team until he dies. Who knows when that will be. I have a feeling he'll hand it off to his daughter. Hopefully she won't be as much of a penny pincher.

So they tossed Ryan, another coach change after two years to basically screw over the entire team before they can get settled, but kept Whaley and gave him even more control than he had.

So now we're going to have another 5 years of 8-8 at best, but the games won't even be enjoyable like they had been for the past two years.
