NBC logic - If the race is delayed, keep them entertained with Indy Lights. 👍 Fox could learn from this.

I am so disappointed right now. It rains, and you delay the race? Have these race tracks even attempted to build them in a way so that they drain water off the course? Its like nobody races in anything heavier then a sprinkle anymore.

NASCAR must be running the show today.

There was a lake across the track in the 2nd fast "S" from the gravel track, turn 11-12 when they left to show the lights race.

Should hopefully be started in around 30 minutes.

Standing water and lightning. That's enough reason for any series to not race...

The race is doing warm up laps behind the safety car now. Just wondering, if they have wet/rain tyres, why did they delay the race for rain so the track can dry? F1 doesn't delay a race unless it is pooring down. Its very illogical in my opinion and I feel sorry for the fans who only get to see an 1 3/4 hour long race.

There was lightning and water running across the track. F1 doesn't even race when water is running across the track.

I understand delaying the race for thunderstorms but it shouldn't take hours for a track to drain. It shows once again how poor quality engineering American road courses are compared to the far superior European and Asian tracks . When F1 races in Sepang (Malaysia), the track may have water running across it for less than an hour and they are back to racing. The US could learn from the rest of the world... I hope Juan Pablo wins!

Different conditions cause different drying effects.

It certainly depends on how much water came down as to how long there's standing water on the course. More water means more delay

Part of it is due to the elevations at Barber, water tends to cross the track or create a pool in certain spots. Also they have to think about how bad the spray will be when they start the race. For the first few laps it was bad but then it's alright, had they started much earlier no one would have had any visibility.

The humidity in Malaysia is ridiculous, so the track dries almost instantly. The humidity level in Alabama is nowhere near as high as in Malaysia. Not to mention that Sepang is a 100 million + dollar FIA grade 1 circuit, while Barber just isn't.
