I mostly saw about 55% of the Grand Prix of Indianapolis. I actually thought it was a great way to generate interest for IndyCar's takeover of May with racing at Indy. Things didn't get chaotic until some time at and after the halfway mark. I certainly felt for the likes of James Hinchcliff and Franck Montagny in this race. I was sort of pulling for Oriol Servia late, and I thought he never won in the series until the ABC crew mentioned he won in 2005.

Otherwise, it was a pretty good race. Nothing too spectacular.
 
Is anyone doing an Indianapolis 500 thread, I could have sworn it was done in years past like the 24hrs of Le Mans?
 
There usually is an Indy 500 thread. No one has created it yet.

That being said, Helio is predicting 229/230mph on Pole Day. He's hit 227 today.

According to indycars development chart, they should hit 232mph this year:

And they could get to 237 by 2016 :D. If that is still accurate.
 
Kurt Busch really gave it a good run. I'll be cheering for him in the Indy 500 for sure

Missed top 9 by .06. Probably would have been able to improve his time had it not been for needing to be back in Charlotte.
 
Montoya (10th) and Busch (12th) were 2 of the top 3 fastest in the early qualifying group today. The top 9 from yesterday are racing for the pole right now on ABC.
 
Not sure what the highest straight line speed was today as I didn't see the coverage, but Marco Andretti was clocked over 237mph on one of his laps yesterday before entering one of the turns.

See how Pagenaud's left front broke when Power forced him into the wall? Me neither because some idiot was playing helicopter with the onboard cameras again. Onboard cameras shouldn't spin around.

8 second pit-stops is what they need.

This kind of racing is truly terrifying. :scared: It's not like these guys are cottonwooled in rolling balls of steel safety-cage.

He was doing so well - shame. Guess they're trying to teach the 'newbie' some rules. Should have cut him some slack . . . but then the race-politicos would have started a bonfire.
