All systems go for initial on-track test
Airboxes are out and roll hoops are back on IndyCars! IndyCar.com will unveil the updated 2012 Dallara-Honda IndyCar after its first test. :D

I saw the 2012 Indy concept at Toronto during the race weekend there and I think it looks really good. All Dan Wheldon has to do is to prove it can go as well as it looks.

I hate the back end of the '12 car, makes it look like an LMP with a funky front end. They also need to get rid of the airbox.:yuck:

It's not just the Dallara chassis that Wheldon is testing - it's the Dallara chassis and their aero package. Under the ICONIC project, all teams will use a Dallara chassis, but various companies will produce aero configurations. Dallara has one package, and it's known that Chevrole and Lotus Cars will supply their own, but none of the teams have given any indication as to what they will use.

All the cars will use the Dallara package, at least for '12.

Danica....again....why did she spin when nobody else did besides trying to avoid her? I clearly understand wet+slicks don't work but ffs, she was still on the turn when she floors it as if she was gonna make a pro move in the first corner which, I might add, would've probably crashed there, too. 👎:grumpy:

Real Bush League officiating of today's race, eh? Will Power (and others) surely had their say on what happened earlier today at the Magic... uh, Boring Mile. And let's not make Danica like she's some villainess or something. Let's not make it sound like she was starting trouble. That was just a crazy race.

In case you haven't heard, the other drivers were repeatidly begging the stewards NOT to restart because they had the exact same problem with putting down power in the wet. Would be nice if you didn't put blame solely on one driver like people seem to keep doing.

People will take any chance they get to hate on Danica. What is funny is that it's not just her moving to NASCAR, chances are her fans will as well leaving IndyCar with even fewer fans.

Yeah, I know. You just can't pick Danica for that start. I usually dislike when people who do next to nothing to offend anybody... somehow become the target of hate or blame. Sad world we live in.

If you all saw that race, did you see all the people who was pissed off at this race? This race almost felt like good old angry short track action. Will Power, Dario Franchitti, Michael Andretti... lot of people just upset. Loudon today seemed more like Bristol at night with NASCAR.

If it wasn't Danica that spun, it would have been someone else.

It was raining in turn 4 when they did that restart.

Ryan Hunter-Reay said he couldn't even put the power down in 4th gear.

What the drivers should have done if they were concerned is put on wet tyres, that would prove their point.

^^^ Fully agree.

Will Power was really angry there. I like the guy, but that was quite unprofessional.

Every time I watch Indycar, I'm constantly reminded of how much we need a good Indycar game. My PC is too old and slow to run Rfactor or Iracing. If there was a good Indycar game for pc, ps3 and xbox360 that was more biased towards sim racing than arcade, it would definitely be a day one purchase for me. It could sell quite well as it has been quite some time since there was an indycar game.

I don't even think rain tires are available for ovals. It's the same reason as NASCAR in that regard. Too much load on the tires on ovals.

Goodyear has offered to make rain tires for Nascar though. They said it could be done easily.

Problem with that though:

1. No one brings rain tires to an oval because rain tires don't work on ovals.

2. No one bought Rain Tires to the track, see reason above.

I was at the New Hampshire race yesterday, sat at the finish line under the overhang :D great race, although I did get mad after the last restart when Lotus crashed, the #5 Japanese one :/ good race though, when Dario Franchitti spun out upon restart was a thriller :D

Edit: I didn't see Will Power flip everyone off but I heard the crowds reaction, and when I was in the store after the race, some guy was rubbing a Will Power Shirt on his butt and said "That's what you get for flipping off the crowd" lol

Lol haha I wondered what happened about the porta potty thing lol

What sim is that? Looks kinda bad, they could've at least used iRacing like Grand-Am does before races.

Anyway, these are the rules, you'd expect team chiefs and drivers to know them. Looks like they don't.

I really miss the old IRL with only ovals, it was great racing and great fun.

So, Indycar is in Baltimore this weekend.

The circuit looked good on paper, but in reality, it's very poor. The last few corners are actually pretty good, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired - it's all long straights and hairpins with ninety-degree bends breaking them up. The pits are incredibly cramped and narrow (so much so that the pit entry has to travel in the opposite direction to the racing and loop back just to fit every garage in, and even then, there are bit bays on both sides of the lane); Will Power will actually be on the racing circuit twenty feet after leaving his pit box. But work of all, there are some excruciatingly narrow parts to the circuit. A Surfers Paradise-esque chicane was added to the main straight, and the sequence of bends before the actual pit entry is just one lane wide.

Overall, it's horrible - it's everything a street circuit should not be.

So I'm not the only one that doesn't like this place. I watched the ALMS race and thought it was just really horrid.
