Will Power had spun Dixon in Morning Warmup, and then he pulls that now and claims he lost control of the car.

Likely story....

THIS ONE actually seemed likely. Not so sure about the pitstop issue the other day.

Dixon darted up to try and pass Power... but Power was going to dart out and get the pass on the one in front of HIM. He darted to the side to try and pass and ended up clipping his back on Dixon's front since he didn't know Dixon had darted out like that.

He didn't even think he hit anyone, saying "Sorry, I lost it in the straight line", thinking he lost the car and hit the wall purely on his own. It wasn't until later he learned he hit Dixon's car.

"DIVEBOMBING, DIVEBOMBING EVERYWHERE."
That was fun to watch! :dopey:

Maybe the Baltimore street course experiment isn't so bad.. so long as the drivers race it correctly.

They need to do something with the chicane/railroad crossing still.

It's certainly not the worst street circuit out there. The main problem is that chicane. It's abysmal.

His (Justin Wilson) first top 5 in 2 and a half years? What? Did he not win Texas last year? Oh and finish 4th at Sonoma last week? You're not talking about Simona are you?

Edit: Newgarden.. duh on my part.

From what I read, Dixon was in fourth gear... I know Indycars have a lot of power and can spin the tyres in lower gears at will (pun not intended), but in fourth? Will Power needs to learn to be a better liar.

Will Power's pit crew casually strolls through his pitbox, dangling a tyre behind him, which hits Dixon's rear tyre as he leaves the pits, knocking Dixon out of a potential victory and into fifteenth (it's worth noting that Power wasn't in his pitbox straight, he was at a slight angle facing the pit wall - making Dixon's exit tighter than normal); then he cuts across the front of Dixon on a restart with 20-ish laps remaining in Baltimore while running in the top six, putting Dixon out of the race and enabling Castroneves - his teammate no less - to extend his championship lead.

Once is accidental, twice is no coincidence.

Call me patriotically biased, but I'm not buying Power's excuses.

Relevant driver quotes:
Scott Dixon
"The No. 15 (Graham Rahal) should have received a penalty (for spinning us) and the No. 4 (Oriol Servia) car passed us on a yellow. So that restart near the end was a complete botch," fumed Dixon. "On the restart I had an overtake advantage on Power, it must have been in fourth gear, so they can't complain about wheelspin. Then I got beside him and he ran me straight into the wall. Then, they wouldn't bring the car back."
Top end of third/somewhere in fourth seems like a high enough speed to not have wheelspin strong enough to pitch a car sideways like that - otherwise how do the drivers keep themselves straight in slower-speed corners or early sections of a straight?

And then there's the race control calls, or lack thereof...

Will Power
"I feel really bad," he declared. "We had a good start to the race in the Verizon car but then I made a mistake on the first pit stop and then the accident on the restart that really ended up ruining two good days. I thought I had a really good run on Bourdais and I was going to the inside to get around him, and I thought I hit a bump or just lost it on cold tires. I really had no idea that Dixon was there. I actually didn't even know until I got back to the pits and they told me. I feel terrible for him and his team. All I can do is tell them how sorry I am and move on to Houston."
Power doesn't even know if he lost it on a bump, lost it due to cold tyres or lost it because of something else. Pretty sure you'd be able to tell if you lost it on a bump large enough to spear your car hard right, and if you're going in a relatively straight line like he was then cold tyres are unlikely to do that either...

 Indycar is becoming a joke.

It's literally no different than in Nascar. Don't let being a Dixie fan blind you.

If anything, this is a week late, and he should have gotten something for crying and claiming that a man jumped in front of his car, then calling the (justified) penalty he got "a dick move."

Don't see Castroneves losing the title from a 49 point advantage. He'll finally win it like how Kanaan finally won the 500.

Boo :grumpy:

Remember when it was practically sacrilegious to run anything other than an Indycar on the speedway?

Word has it that the IndyCar Series will have TWO races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. That second race? It is a race slated to run around Indy's road course. Whichever road course layout they will use is beyond me.

Here is a link for you: http://www.indycar.com/News/2013/09/9-26-IMS-board-approves-Speedway-road-course-race

What are your thoughts on this race?

No & no. People come to indy for the 500, not for some sub-par race around the road course with indycars.

Maybe that can be used as a qualifying race. I know it's NASCAR esque, but let the top 25 get in on time then let the last 8 spots be determined by the road course race. It can potentially be exciting, but that's debatable imo

I've been to the IMS 7 times. Never once for the 500. I realize I'm probably in the minority. They have the road course sitting there. Many of the Indycar teams are local. Having a road course event makes perfect sense to me. Although having it two weeks before the 'big' event is questionable.

Im sure they are hoping to keep fans there for awhile but atleast teams aren't having to travel. It would be interesting to see to say the least.

You do realize that it's not going to replace the 500, right? :odd:

I didn't say that (nor imply it), I'm against it because when it'll happen and purely because there already is the 500.
