Today's format just ruins it.
It's being driven by the assumption that every race needs to be individual and that more track time is a better thing.

What happened? I only just turned it on.
One of the cars locked up at the back straight and took another car into the tyre wall on lap 3.

The wet will play into the DVS codriver's hands. I'd still have the main driver start though.

To be honest, I like the Saturday qualy races. It's unique to the round and spices up the Saturday a little more. I didn't like it so much back the 500 was at PI, but it's nice now at Sandown.

Aww, man. Lebrocq. He needs to be patient.

Edit: Bumper cars. Jeez.

I don't think that anyone liked it. The system was ridiculously complex; what they do at Sandown is a simplified version of it.

Couldn't really remember exactly how it was, thought it was the same as what it is now.

According to Channel 10 it's Alexander Premat, not Alexandre.

No, please, no. I don't want Sandown to die! I've been going there for so long and it holds so many memories for me. I don't want to go to Phillip Island instead! It's too far from my place. Although I could find a way around it...
Sandown is my local track & only 15 minutes away. I've been going there for over 30 years now but if they're going to charge an ADDITIONAL $25 to sit undercover in the grandstand, I've been to a Supercar race for the last time.
I'm not driving 2 hours down to Phillip Island or up to Winton & spending twice as long in the traffic on the trip home. Ce la vie

Both drivers had their own qualifying session and race. They scored points - points that were separate from the championship - and after the two races, those points were added together to decide the final grid.

Good start to the race!

Edit: well, except for Golding. Let's hope he's alright.

Damn it, missed the start. Thought the stream started at 8:15. :(

Crap. Had to be him.
Not his fault - there was clearly a failure on the front right.

I don't want Sandown to die!
It's the fate of many racing circuits - eventually the city catches up to them and the land becomes too valuable to make its future as a racing venue viable.

Red flag now. Glad that Golding is alright, that was a massive shunt

Thankfully he's ok. The tyre wall did its job well & kept the car from going over the fence.

Red flag

Red flag, good call. No point having the cars trundle around.

Can't help but feel bad for Moffat, Golding and the GRM crew. It was so good to see both cars up the front end with good pace. Here's hoping the 33 car can take the fight to 88 and 2.

A SAFER barrier would be good at that corner. Since the cars don't go in head on, they actually go in on an angle, so instead of the cars catching in the tyre wall and stopping suddenly, the car would hit and then continue down the hill.

I had my hopes on a Volvo 1-2 :( good to see Golding is all good. Let's go 33!

That replay of the Simon Wills WOW car in 2005 is frightening :scared:

Now, how does this figure in race distance percentage wise, for the codriver?

Edit: just answered.

Wall showing good pace, hopefully that Volvo can stay up there all day.

Caruso looking intense. The Nissan isn't slow. Still all manufacturers in top 10.
